Ballinabrackey 2-14 Oldcastle 0-6
Under ideal weather for a game of football on Sunday morning Ballinabrackey welcomed Oldcastle for Round 5 of the AFL Division 7.
There were four minutes on the clock before either team had found their first score of the morning. Dean Coyne got Ballinabrackey off the mark with a free. Another three minutes before Oldcastle got their first of the game from a placed ball. It was a tight game with both teams answering each other point for point until Ben Monahan raised the green flag for the Ballinabrackey in the 21st minute. The Bracks kicked on scoring the next four points keeping Oldcastle scoreless for the remainder of the half.
The second half started slow once again there was nearly four minutes into the half before either team found a score. Oldcastle popped over a point from play to get the scoreboard ticking. Dean Coyne was the man once again to get Ballinabrackey rolling with a point from play. The Ballinabrackey lads showed great communication and simple passes was the way to see out the game, as they scored another four points without reply. Oldcastle scored their 6th and final point of the game in the 28th minute with it wasn't from their lack of effort or skill Ballinabrackey defended so well not letting them in. Diarmuid Meleady pulled off some fantastic saves in the Ballinbrackey goal to give the Bracks a clean sheet. The Bracks saw out the game with a point from Ben Monahan and another point and goal from Dean Coyne.
