Kilbeg NS made history at Pairc Tailteann by claiming the Divison 4/5 Shield Cumann na mBunscol football title

Kilbeg NS made their own little piece of history by winning the schools first ever Meath Cumann na mBunscol title yesterday at Pairc Tailteann. PHOTOS

The school of former Meath great Martin O’Connell set up victory in the opening half.

Goals from Feidhlim Nulty, Jack Smith (2) and Tommy Farrelly gave the team in Red and Black a commanding 4-4 to 1-0 half time lead, Cian Deasy raising the green flag for Mount Hanover.

Mount Hanover narrowed the gap with points from Peter Crosby and Deasy early in the second half and with ten minutes gone they got in for their second goal courtesy of midfielder Jamie Breach.

From there on the winners took control. Tommy Farrelly got in for his second major. Substitute Charlie Purfield followed suit with his teams sixth goal soon after and the Boys Division 4/5 Shield Football title was heading back to Kilbeg for the very first time.
