Three first half goals in the second quarter put Meath in the driving seat. They went on to lead 3-7 to 0-4 at the break.

Meath were 0-6 to 0-2 in front before their first goal arrived courtesy of Senan Duffy. Minutes later Duffy turned provider to set up the impressive Evan Kelly for their second three pointer. Before the break Kelly was in for his second goal that left Louth with a mountain to climb.

A much better performance from the visitors in the second half, but their goal chances were thwarted by the Meath defence.

The sides shared three points each in the opening ten minutes before Duffy raised his second green flag. Substitute Jake Madden was introduced with ten minutes to go and the Round Towers footballer finished with 1-2.
