Ring Cup: Royals set up final date with Derry

Meath will take on Derry in the Christy Ring Cup final at Croke Park

Meath 0-24 Sligo 0-18

Meath progressed to the Christy Ring Cup final with this six point win over Sligo at Markievicz Park.

The Royals will take on Derry who were comfortable 0-30 to 1-11 winners over Mayo at Owenbeg

The home side were on the scoreboard first through Fionn Moylan but by the 15th minute Meath had moved in front with fine scores from Jack Regan, Nicky Potterton and Eamon O Donnchadha, Regan with a brilliant effort from a sideline cut.

Seoirse Bulfin’s men began to dominate and by the 28th minute had moved 0-11 to 0-6 in front but Sligo hit back with three unanswered points from Diarmuid Hanniffy and Kilcullen (2) to cut the lead to 0-11 to 0-9 after 32 minutes.

Regan again and a brace from midfielder Pa Ryan sent the Royals in at the break 0-14 to 0-10 in front.

Three points separated the teams after 45 minutes, Jack Regan (3) and Andrew Kilcullen (4) accounting for the early second half scores.

Another brace from Kilcullen narrowed the gap to one 0-19 to 0-18 before Meath raised four white flags without reply.

Kilcullen replied for Sligo but as the game entered injury time points from Martin Healy and James Kelly sealed the win for Meath.

The final is set for Croke Park on Saturday June 3rd.
