Meath 0-20 Donegal 0-14
A five star display from joint captain Jack Regan inspired Meath to a six point win over Donegal in the National Hurling League Division 2B final played in ideal conditions at Avant Money Páirc Seán Mac Diarmada.
Sean Quigley got the scoreboard working. Martin Healy and Eamon Óg Ó Donnchadha had Meath three up after three minutes before Donegal got of the mark. By the halfway stage Meath held a 0-7 to 0-5 advantage and by the break the Royals maintained that two point advantage 0-10 to 0-8, thanks to six pointed frees from Regan.
By the 47th minute Donegal were in front 0-11 to 0-10. Regan levelled matters and put Meath back in front soon after with a monster point from play. With 60 minutes gone Meath held a 0-15 to 0-14 lead and a shock looked on the cards.
Inspired by Regan Meath had other ideas. The Kiltale sharpshooter doubled his side’s lead before Kilskyre duo Seanie Geraghty and substitute Daire Shine opened up a four point gap. Shine completed a memorable cameo with another score before the final whistle as Meath returned to Division 2A of the National Hurling League with six points to spare.
Meath scorers: Jack Regan 0-11, Eamon Ó Donnchadha and Daire Shine 0-2 each, Sean Quigley, Martin Healy, Padraig O’Hanrahan Seanie Geraghty and Stephen Morris 0-1 each
