Having made a great start, Castletown had to prove their mettle to reassert themselves having seen their early lead wiped out.

Castletown moved four clear early on and put up a strong display to finish with the same margin.

Kevin Ross's 35th point gave Castletown the lead, 1-5 to 0-7, they took to the finish. As the half wore on they looked more likely winners.

Dunsany's losing run continues but they hung in to the end. Declan Cribbin's stoppage time point finally erased their hopes collecting the Peter McDermott Cup.

Backed by the elements, Castletown outscored Dunsany by 0-8 to 0-5 in the second half with their grip on the silverware ever grippening.

Stronger in the tackle, Castletown were more economical than Dunsany, who had a good shout for a penalty waved away.

Castletown were more wasteful in front of goal, but had enough to deny Dunsany.

Dunsany were within reach of Castletown until Cribben's aforementioned point settled matters.

Despite playing into the sun, Castletown just over a minute to set down a marker with Declan Cribbin's goal. Shortly after Damien Ginnitty moved his side four points clear.

Then Castletown endured 23 scoreless minutes while Dunsany gradually made an impression on the scoreboard .

Dunsany posted six points on the spin, with Shane Walsh's 20th minute effort giving them the lead for the first time, 0-5 to 1-1.

A Cathal Murphy free doubled their advantage. However, Castletown closed the half with a three-point salvo, completed by Killian Price, to forge a 1-4 to 0-6 interval advantage.

With the wind increasing Castletown hopes were high playing into the town goal in the second half. They made the most of the elements.
