Kilbride GFC are pleased to announce that they will open their brand new state of the art club gym and walking track on June 25th at 4pm.
Kilbride have in recent years undergone a massive transformation on and off the field. It came about through hard work along with local support from Meath Co Council and The Sport Capital Grant Scheme. To coincide with the day we are hosting our annual fun day with childrens games and refreshments.
Kilbride GFC lost one of the all time greats last July when Tommy Mahon sadly passed away and in his honour the new club Gym will be named after him. Tommy I'm sure doesn't need too much introduction and it's only fitting that his name will be remembered for many decades with this tribute.
A former Meath Minor chairman, club Chairman for over 40 years a distinguished player with 5 Keegan cups, Feis Cup and a hurling championship medal winner with Ratoath. Tommy had played a massive part in the clubs development on and off the field right up until his passing last year. During the development of the gym and walkway Tommy was ever present ensuring that things were done right along with keeping the lads fed so that they would leave early.
Brendan Cummins will be our MC for the day and will be joined my Meath Co Board Chairman John Kavanagh who will officially open the gym. He will also be joined by Minister for Justice Helen McEntee along with representatives from Meath County Council, family and the many friends of the late Tommy Mahon.
