Dunboyne’s second minor squad proved too strong for Clann na nGael in the Meath Minor Football Championship Division 6 final played under lights at Dunganny. Photos

Clann na Gael got the perfect start with a goal from centre back Jeaic Murray but Dunboyne replied with a point from Ross Lyons and a Sean McCormack goal. Eugene O’Reilly levelled matters and the teams went to the first water break all square.

Blood sub Ben Corkery put the Athboy Rathcairn combination in front from a free but from there on St. Peters dominated and points from McCormack, Jack Maher, Adam Hughes and Sean McHale (45) put them 1-5 to 1-2 in front at half time.

By the second water break the eventual winners had opened up a 3-8 to 1-6 lead thanks to goals from Maher and McCormack.

Mark Carey made sure of victory with his sides fourth goal in the closing minutes.

After the game Meath Minor Board Secretary Brian Kelly presented the cup to Dunboyne captain Conor O’Reilly.

Clann na nGael scorers: Sean Og Tiernan 0-3, Jean Murray 1-0, Eugene O’Reilly, Ben Corkery, Ronan McLoughlin James Black and Joe Ennis 0-1 each.
