Kildalkey celebrate with the Billy Harmon Cup

The 2021 Billy Harmon Tournament for U13 Hurlers had plenty of talent on show on a wonderful Bank Holiday Monday at Kildalkey. Clear blue skies at the end of October was a bonus.

2 teams represented Meath, Kildalkey and Dunboyne, while there were 2 representatives from Westmeath, Raharney and Clan na nGael (Brownstown and Castlepollard).

The league rounds brought us some very competitive matches, with Kildalkey and Raharney topping the groups to go into the Cup Final.

The first final up, was for the Shield between Dunboyne and Clan na nGael. The match was very close, but it was the boys from Meath who managed to close the match.

The Cup final between the table toppers was an absolute thriller. Raharney chose to play with the wind in the 1st half which gave them a narrow lead going into the 2nd half. There was nothing between the young hurlers as they competed for every ball. Some long shooting and a well taken goal was to be the difference between the teams. Kildalkey prevailed to ensure the Billy Harmon Cup remained in the Village.

The large crowd who had gathered in Kildalkey had been treated to some fantastic Hurling from these young lads.
