SFC relegation play-off: Second half collapse costs Curraha

October 11, 2021

Curraha's Neil Shortall

Skryne 0-16 Curraha 0-9

Curraha made the short journey to Dunshaughlin to take on near rivals Skryne in this SFC relegation play-off.

Curraha started positively with early points from Conor Moriarty and Podge O'Hanrahan pushing them into an early lead. They were dealt an early blow however when an injury forced Jack O'Connor off the field after only 7 minutes. Curraha shaded the opening quarter, with Gavin Coyle adding another point to the earlier efforts, before Skryne were awarded a penalty after 15 minutes. Luke McCarthy pulled off a fantastic save, and Curraha countered quickly with Neil Shortall scoring a great point to leave Curraha ahead by a point at the water break.

Curraha's impressive start continued after the water break as they really took the game to Skryne. Diarmuid Moriarty, who was a constant threat, scored 3 points in a row before Skryne managed to register another score. He added another point from a free just before half time to leave Curraha ahead 8 points to 7 at half time.

Skyrne started the second half well, registering a point almost straight from the restart, and started to gain control as the half went on. Diarmuid Moriarty scored his 5th point of the day in the 8th minute, but this proved to Curraha's only score of the half. Skryne added on a few further scores after the water break to ensure there was no chance of a Curraha comeback.

Next up for Curraha will be an encounter against Navan O'Mahony's as we aim to secure our Senior status.
