Curraha 2-4 Ballinabrackey 1-13
Curraha headed for Summerhill to take on Ballinabrackey in the second match of Group B in the Senior Football Championship.
Ballinabrackey took the lead early on with a point from a free, but Curraha responded well, and the next 2 scores were Curraha goals. The first was a well taken opportunity from Podge O'Hanrahan after a nice team move. Diarmuid Moriarty registered the second with a clever finish after a high ball was dropped into the edge of the square. James McEntee added to the lead with a well struck 45 to leave Curraha 6 points in front after 20 minutes.
Ballinabrackey responded with 3 points from frees before half time to leave the score at 2-1 to 0-4 at half time.
The start of the second half saw Ballinabrackey kick 5 points in the opening 10 minutes to push them into the lead., with 4 of these scores coming from frees.
Another 45 from James McEntee, and a Conor Moriarty point after claiming a fine mark, left the sides level after 12 minutes. However, with the last bit of action before the water break, Ballinabrackey broke through to register their first goal of the game.
They registered another point immediately after the water break, with James McEntee responding with a point for the 'Ha soon after. They added 3 more scores in the last few minutes, with James McEntee's 3rd point of the day the only response from Curraha.
Next up for Curraha are St.Colmcilles in two weeks' time.
