Connacht GAA are hoping to have their much-anticipated Air Dome open by September.
Measuring 150m in length, 100m in width and 26m in height, the biggest Sports Dome in the world in being built at the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence in Bekan.
It will accommodate for a full-size indoor GAA pitch modelled on MacHale Park in Castlebar, extensive gym facilities, a 130m indoor running track and movable seating for 600 spectators.
Construction on the €3 million development came to a halt in March because of the Covid-19 pandemic but resumed two months later and is now finally taking shape with the laying of the playing surface in recent weeks.
