Gaeil Colmcille welcomed Ratoath to Grangegodden in what was a repeat of last years Feis Cup Final in which Kells prevailed.

Gaeil Colmcille got off to the best possible start when Stevie McManus collected a Ratoath kickout, he tore through the Ratoath defence and buried the ball to the back of the net. Ratoath responded with their opening point of the match followed by a point from Brian Hanlon to leave it 1-01 to 0-01 after 6 minutes. Ratoath got back to within a point on 10 minutes before two points from Hanlon restored Kells 3 point lead. Ratoath tagged on two more scores, but when Seamus Mattimoe was fouled before the break and from the resulting free left Kells ahead 1-04 to 0-05 at half-time.
McManus got the opening score of the second half when, a quick free kick from Hanlon played it to McManus who curled it over the bar. Two frees from Hanlon followed by a point from Ratoath saw Kells lead 1-07 to 0-06 ahead with 6 mnutes to go. On the 57minute, Hanlon kicked a free off the ground, with the ball dropping short the keeper seemed to fumble the ball and the referees umpires were on the spot and claimed the ball went over the line, raising the green flag for the Kells men. Substitute Dylan Roche got on the the scoresheet before Hanlon rounded off the scoring with an acrobatic score, when, with his back to goal kicked the ball over his head to see Gaeil Colmcille win 2-09 to 0-07 and move to 4 points after two games.

Ratoath visited Grangegodden on a day to take on Gael Colmcille in the second round of the league
On a freezing cold morning a decent crowd turned out for a game between two sides who had won in the first round.
The home side settled quickly and scored a goal and a point before Ratoath got off the mark.
The first half was even enough and the home side would lead by 1-4 to 0-5 at half time.
The second half was more one sided as the visitors struggled to keep the scoreboard moving, 7 wides proving costly. Colmcilles were good value for their win although the margin was flattering in the end
