Slane honour John Ryle at Awards Night

John Ryle receives his award from Nicky Tallon

Slane GFC held their annual awards night on Saturday February 13th in The Black & White Thatched Inn, Rossin, Slane.

A large crowd attended and the club was delighted to see so many old faces there to honour club great, John Ryle.  John, a former teacher in Slane National School, coached underage teams in both the school and Slane GFC.  John's infectious enthusiasm and love of the game paved the way for great underage Slane teams which laid the foundation for the successful Slane teams of the 80's and 90's.

The club was delighted to award former Club Chairman Jim Mullery with the Eilish Kieran Club Person of the Year Award.

As well as their playing awards, the club honoured referee David Gough and his umpire team for their excellence throughout the 2015 season which accumulated in the officiating of the All Ireland Minor Final.
