Connacht club JFC final: Clonbur come out on top at McHale Park

Galway champions Clonbur claimed provincial honours at McHale Park on Sunday (6th Nov.) with a two point win over Mayo champions Islandeady.

The Mayo side were ahead by the minimum at the break - Islandeady 0-6 Clonbur 0-5. A couple of free's from the boot of Danny McGowan at the end of the opening half gave his side a one point advantage.

The outstanding Eoin Joyce lead by example for Clonbur, the corner forward contributed seven points of Clonbur's total over the hour.

Clonbur enjoyed a period of dominance in the second half that saw them take the lead before Islandeady got back on level terms with scores from McGowan and Brendan Gibbons.

With less than 5 minutes to the finish both sides were tied at 0-9 a piece, Clonbur were awarded a free that was seen as dabatale by some. Joyce made no mistake to put his side one ahead.

Centre forward Pat Lambe sealed the win for Clonbur as they ran out 0-11 to 0-9 winners.
