Louth midfielder Paddy Keenan would gladly swap his All-Star award for a Leinster medal he was denied in the cruellest of circumstances this year.
The St. Patrick's, Lordship clubman became the Wee County's first ever All-Star recipient yesterday after a brilliant season, but while delighted to be honoured, he said it doesn't make up for the devastation of being denied a Leinster title by a shocking refereeing blunder in July.
"It is nice to get the award, but if you were given the choice you would prefer a Leinster. I am delighted, though, it is great recognition for the team as a whole and how far Louth have come this year."
Louth manager Peter Fitzpatrick hailed the Wee County's first All-Star.
"I'm delighted to see Paddy get this recognition because he was outstanding all year," he said.
Keenan's selection means that Carlow, Longford, Waterford, Limerick, Kilkenny and London are now the only counties to have never received a football All-Star award.
