Naomh Fionnbarra club notes

May 04, 2021

Phew! What a week and what a way to return to play!  Over the course of the week we had over 200 children and teenagers attend football, hurling and camogie training at John Markey Park, Ballygassan.  It was absolutely fantastic to see such an amazing turnout across all age groups and it was such a pleasure to see the pitches full of children and coaches having fun again.  We can't believe how tall some of our existing players have grown since we last saw you!  We would like to extend a particularly warm welcome to all of our new players!  We hope you enjoyed your first training session and we can't wait to see you again next week!

On a side-note we would like to sincerely thank all of our coaches, mentors, Covid officers, ground staff and committee members for all of their hard work over the past few weeks.  A huge amount of organisation has gone into preparing the pitch and facilities for return to play. Thank you also to all the mammies and daddies for bearing with us as we find our feet. Onwards & upwards!

Up the Barrs & Anne's!

Our membership for 2021 is OPEN! You can now register & pay your membership online through Foireann: www. With underage training already resumed it is important that our juvenile members are all registered.  All juvenile players who register for the 2021 season will receive football socks and shorts kindly sponsored by TCL.

With adult training set to resume on Monday May 10th in pods of 15 it is important that all of our adult men and ladies footballers and adult camogie players have their membership paid before training resumes.  All players are training individually to ensure that they are ready to hit the ground running on the 10th.  From 7th June subject to the public health situation at the time, club games will be permitted at ball levels, but must be played behind closed doors.  Indoor & gym facilities must remain closed except for toilet areas.

There was no jackpot winner in Naomh Fionnbarra & St. Anne's G.F.G. Lotto draw held on Wednesday 28th April. The winning numbers were 15, 21, 25 & 26. There was 1 match 3 winner Margaret Sharkey who won €150.  Next week's Jackpot is €10,000!!  Lotto envelopes are available in local shops, through usual sellers and entries may also be purchased online on the Clubforce App - Naomh Fionnbarra or the following link:

Naomh Fionnbarra & St. Anne’s GFG Cul Camp is from 26th to 30th July.  Numbers will be limited due to Covid restrictions.  So, book early!!!  Once numbers are reached for each camp the bookings will close.

Making a point together for SOSAD is a fundraiser running on Saturday 5th June and Sunday 6th June where Conor Lynch and his friend Evan Bird will visit all the GAA clubs in Co. Louth. They will wear the club jersey when we are there and will record ourselves kicking a point in every ground in the county.  This idea came about as the lads have learned over the last year through this pandemic that we are in that mental health is so important. They are combining 2 passions which are mental health and Louth GAA and make it into a fundraiser for a brillant organisation in SOSAD.  Please visit to donate.

Have You Got What It Takes To Become A Referee??  Louth GAA are asking ALL clubs to get behind a new referee recruitment drive. Please complete the form on the Louth GAA social media pages if interested.  Without referees we will have no games.  We must act fast, and we must act now!!

The club would like to express our deepest sympathy to the family of Anna Sharkey (nee Kiernan) formerly Mayne, Castlebellingham.  May she Rest In Peace.
