Barden returns to Longford squad

Longford's David Barden
David Barden has returned to the Longford football squad for the coming season.

The younger brother of star player Paul made a fleeting appearance during last year's National League before opting off the panel. His return is a boost considering that Francis McGee is still injured and Padraig Berry has emigrated for work reasons.

Manager Glenn Ryan has called up James Noonan from last year's Leinster championship winning minor team, while Niall Mulligan, Michael Victory, Niall Mulligan and Kieran Mulvihill are other newcomers to the fold.

Longford, who lost to neighbours Westmeath in a challenge match last weekend, will face Ryan's native Kildare in their O'Byrne Cup opener at Newbridge on Sunday.
