Another weekend, another storm warning

Storm Dennis is on his way!

Last weekend, Storm Ciara wreaked havoc with the GAA fixture schedule and now Storm Dennis is threatening to do the same this weekend.

Met Eireann is warning of severe winds, flooding and even snow when Storm Dennis makes landfall tomorrow.

A forecaster added: "The influence of Storm Dennis will be felt over Ireland on Saturday, even though the storm centre will be just to the south of Iceland: There will be very heavy rain countrywide with flooding in places, strong and very squally south or south to southwest winds with gales or strong gales on coasts. Afternoon temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees Celsius.

"Very disturbed weather through the rest of the weekend especially, with storm Dennis continuing to affect us even though the storm centre will be well to the northwest Saturday night probably coming closest to us later Sunday.

"Extremely windy and very showery on Sunday with stormy conditions in Atlantic coastal counties, especially northwestern counties with very severe and squally winds.

"Widespread heavy rain and hail showers with thundery downpours at times, but drier and brighter at times in parts of the east and south.

"Cold with afternoon temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees Celsius with a very significant wind chill factor. Showers and extremely windy conditions for a time on Sunday night."

The Allianz Hurling League returns this weekend, make sure you join the match tracker for live scores from the third round of games.
