Junior-A Football West Final this Saturday in Abbeyfeale

Sean Finns have qualified for their first West Final in Junior-A Football Grade since 1991. With the average age of the Sean Finn's players just 22, many of the players were only toddlers (and some were not even being thought about) when the local side last brought the West Junior Football trophy to Rathkeale. Most were too young to remember the excitement in the parish as 1991 drew to a close. Glin will provide the opposition on Saturday 1st October, and will without a doubt be firm favourites.

The game will start at 3.30pm in the Fr. Casey's GAA grounds in Abbeyfeale. We wish our local team under the management trio of Brian Nolan, Sean Hartnett and John Lyons the very best of good luck as they take on the more-experienced side from Glin. Supporters are encouraged to turn up and give the lads the vocal support on this great occasion.

New Jerseys, Socks & Togs

The club are always very grateful to the business community of Rathkeale for their sponsorship throughout the years. In the last week, Eamon Daly has kindly sponsored a new set of jerseys and Jonaton Mooney (of Downes Eurospar) has kindly presented set of socks & Togs to the Junior Football panel. All involved in the club would like to express their appreciation to both Eamon and Jonaton for their support. As ever, we ask our supporters to consider our sponsors when making their purchasing decisions.

Under-21 Football Championship, 3rd win

For our 3rd Round game in the Under 21 Football Championship we played Monegea in Newcastle West on Sunday 25th at 12 noon. Competition has always been close between these two teams and so it was also on Sunday. The first half was one-sided with Sean Finn's dominating with a score of 0:08 while Monegea had scored 0:03.

The second half was a completely different story with Monegea scoring two goals and a point within the first twelve minutes. Their lead of two points was short-lived however as Sean Finn's scored the next five points. (0:13 to 2:04).

Monegea then pointed a free and followed this with a goal. With six minutes remaining, Sean Finn's scored a point to level the game, as the spectators watched with bated breath to see who would score next to go ahead on the score-board.(0:14 to 3:05). With time running out fast Sean Finn's defence remained resolute while the forwards managed to score three more vital points to end on a high. The score at the final whistle was 0:17 for Sean Finn's while Monegea had 3:05. The management team of Donal Donovan, Brian Duggan and Damien Wilmott were well pleased with the panel of players who grouped well together and played as a unit. The following players played on our Under 21 panel on Sunday: Patrick Wilmott, Frank Geary, Deane Maune, Paul White, Shane Hourigan, Sean Sheahan, Darren Jones, Eoin O'Donnell, Jack Coleman, Stephen Power, Anthony Supple, Sean White, Kieran English, Eoghan O'Connor, Martin Roche, Adam Costello and Cian Wilmott. Our Round 4 Game will be played on Sunday 2nd October against Drom/Broadford.
