"I'm out the gap" - Spillane to leave The Sunday Game after 30 years

July 09, 2022

Pat Spillane

Kerry legend Pat Spillane has confirmed that this year’s All-Ireland senior football championship final will be his last appearance on The Sunday Game.

The eight-time All-Ireland winner has been a pundit on the RTE programme for three decades now, having started off as a co-commentator for the national broadcaster.

Spillane’s television work over the years saw him building a great rapport with Michael Lyster, Colm O'Rourke and Joe Brolly in RTE’s live coverage of the biggest Gaelic football games each year.

He revealed ahead of this afternoon’s Taliteann Cup final between Cavan and Westmeath at Croke Park (3pm) that tomorrow fortnight’s All-Ireland SFC decider would be his last game as pundit on the programme.
