Mohill
Playing Resumes
After more than three months of Lockdown, we at last have reached the end of the dark tunnel and underage, senior ladies and men were back training during the week in atrocious weather conditions. But no one will worry about the weather as all are delighted to be getting back to the new normal. There is a very short time to prepare, less than three weeks but we hope that every club in Ireland is in the same boat. The Championship Draw sees us in a very strong group with Manor, Aughawillan, St Mary’s, Fenagh and the first game will be on the weekend of July 18/19. There are strict rules and forms to be signed so we ask everyone to be careful, the virus is still prowling around.
Bórd na nÓg
The underage have returned to training this week and parents are asked to go on line and fill the appropriate forms and do the online training. Some parents have already done so. It may be tedious but in the interest of safety please go online @ https://courses.gaa.ie/Covid19ClubEd. Take a screen shot of your certificate and send it to the team coach. The health questionnaire is available @ https://returntoplay.gaa.ie. If you need any assistance contact the appropriate Covid officer. U6s Claire Quinn, U9s Salome Sweeney, Martin McDermott, U11s Georgina Daly, U13s Talita Quinn, U15s Colette Murphy, Ger Walpole, U17s Ann Macklin, Noelle Scott.
History Book
The Club history book 1889 to 2015 published in 2016 is now available free in Pauls and Baxters Centra. Although many copies were sold at the time, there were too many printed and we have good amount available to distribute. It makes great reading for young and old and history never goes out of date. It is available from Maureen Lynch @ 0861765987.
Recent injury
Spare a thought for underage player Evan Kilrane. Evan loves his football and was chopping at the bit to get back training. Alas disaster hit, unfortunate Evan broke his arm last week and will miss all his training. Hopefully for his team and himself, he will be back good as new before the competition ends.
Tina Slevin RIP
Mohill GAA Club extend deepest sympathy to the family of Tina Slevin Station Road who died last week. Tina and her husband Tim were faithful supporters of our Lotto for many years when Teresa Bohan diligently called every Sat night for their contribution. Tina’s husband Tim played for St Finbars Hurling Club for many years. Tina was a legend around Mohill running an excellent B&B that got many compliments and accolades from all over the world. Ní beidh a leithéid arís ann. Ar dheis Dé go raibh sí.
