Emlyn Mulligan and Conor Beirne came off the bench to steer Leitrim to a narrow victory over Roscommon in a low-scoring FBD Connacht League tie at Elphin.

Conor Devaney and Fintan Cregg raised white flags for the hosts and they led by 0-2 to 0-1 at the break. Adrian Croal got Leitrim off the mark in the 27th minute.

John Evans' first outing as Roscommon manager looked as though it would end in a win when points from Cathal Cregg and Devaney extended the Rossies' lead early in the second half.

The introduction of Mulligan and Beirne gave Leitrim fresh impetus, however, and the latter sent over a 45m free two minutes from time to clinch the win for his team.
