Cora Staunton in attack for GWS Giants.

Cora Staunton starred as GWS Giants defeated St Kilda 45-25 to record just their third victory of the AFLW season.

The former Mayo star and her fellow forward colleague Rebecca Privitelli bagged a hat-trick of goals each as the Giants ran out 20-point winners in the Round 7 clash at a rain-soaked RSEA Park.

39-year-old Staunton and Privitelli were St Kilda's tormentors in chief, they helped the Giants to a four-goal to none first quarter lead.

With only two rounds of matches remaining, Melbourne are better placed than the Giants to take the last finals spot after the Demons crushed the Adelaide Crows 43-15 at Casey Fields.

Dublin All-Ireland winners Sinead Goldrick and Lauren Magee registered six points apiece for the home side.
