Cork 1-15

(after extra-time)

Kerry's bid for eight Munster minor football championship titles in-a-row remains alive following a thrilling extra-time victory over close rivals Cork at Austin Stack Park this evening.

It finished 0-15 to 1-12 at the end of regulation time in Tralee, where the hosts trailed by three points with five minutes of normal-time remaining. But James Costello's charges battled back to ensure extra-time before outstaying the All-Ireland champions in the additional twenty minutes.

The Kingdom actually took the lead in injury-time, with Cian McMahon leading their scoring charge, before Cork substitute Aaron Sheehy stepped up to send the game into extra-time. The sides still couldn't be separated at half-time in extra-time, 1-14 to 1-17.

Bobbie O'Dwyer's Cork enjoyed the better of the early exchanges and led 0-9 to 0-6 at half-time. Conor Hanlon's goal on the restart and points by Hanlon and Colin Walsh kept them on the front foot before Kerry hit five unanswered points to turn the tie on its head in the closing stages.
