Conway explains Mickey Ned decision

Limerick manager Mickey Ned O'Sullivan
Kerry chairman Jerome Conway is no doubt that Mickey Ned O'Sullivan is the right man to take charge of the Kingdom's minor footballers.

O'Sullivan was ratified in the position during the week and he begins a two-year term that will begin in the coming weeks as the Kerry minor championship gets underway.

No one can doubt O'Sullivan's experienced at management level having worked with Mick O'Dwyer and being in charge of both Kerry seniors and Limerick over the years.

Conway admits that there was a high calibre of candidate interviewed for the position, but that Mickey Ned stood out amongst them all.

"He is very experienced, working as a selector to Mick O'Dwyer, coaching the team in the early 90s and managing the Limerick senior team for the past number of years, with whom he has made very good progress," Conway told the Kerryman.

"He knows what it is like to be at the cutting edge of management and we are delighted that he has come on board. We came down on the side of Mickey Ned principally because he has been at the coalface very recently at the highest level."
