Galway midfielder Paul Conroy says “it would be great” to get a game at Croke Park ahead of the championship’s start next month.

The Tribesmen take on Kerry this Sunday in a repeat of last year’s All-Ireland SFC final, with the winners in Salthill set to meet Mayo in the Allianz League Division 1 decider.

Speaking to RTE Sport ahead of the showdown with the Kingdom, Conroy expects a battle at Pearse Stadium (throw-in 1.45pm) this weekend with a league final place up for grabs.

"We definitely would like an extra game, and it would be great to get a game early in Croke Park," said the St James clubman.

"We haven’t any Division 1 league medals in our dressing room and we don’t have the challenge of being out the week after, so we’re just trying to go out and win every game and improve our performance.

“So obviously we have a massive one coming this weekend against Kerry."
