Galway's Joseph Cooney
Joseph Cooney, son of Galway legend Joe, is among a raft of new faces in Galway hurling manager John McIntyre's 37-man squad for the new season.

The teenager, who has starred for St. Brigid's, Loughrea at Vocational Schools level in recent years, is included along with fellow rookies Brian Murphy (Turloughmore), Niall Donoghue (Kilbeacanty), Ger O'Halloran (Craughwell), Johnny Coen (Loughrea), Barry Daly (Clarinbridge), Bernard Burke (St. Thomas) and Keith Kilkenny (Kiltormer).

Among those who have featured previously are Ciaran O'Donovan and Fergal Moore, who are recovering from injury, with Eoin Forde of Clarinbridge and Kiltormer's David Hayes also returning.

Five Portumna players are no longer in the squad, with Ollie Canning being joined in retirement by Niall Hayes and Eugene McEntee, while Eoin Lynch and Kevin Hayes have been omitted, along with Ardrahan's Pat Holland and Mullagh's Conor Dervan.
