True, I think apart from the travesty of the end of that game the one thing that stands out for that year is he was done out of either ypoty or at least a all star, its a pity , he had a fantastic year throughout even against dubs he destroyed them, even though people forget this and say he doesn't play well v dubs, I think regardless of what happened it shouldn't have done him out of that all star ,

Yes but Louth are sure to give Biggy attention. To be fair he got a hard time of it in a league match a few years ago with little help from the ref ziggy32001 (Meath) - Posts: 8354 - 29/05/2016 09:11:31 1859641 Link 2 |

Yes I agree. Biggy was fantastic that year and he deserved an All Star. John Galvin is another player who should of won an All Star that same year.

RD- Maybe we should start a petition so that we could get you an All Star. I do not take All Stars too seriously!-some good players never got one and some average enough ones have received one in the past. If your county does not do well you are highly unlikely to receive one irrespective of how good you are and there are exceptions to most things. You win matches but you do not win an All Star-it is given out by someone /'group of experts' who think that they know better than everyone else. browncows (Meath) - Posts: 2342 - 29/05/2016 14:24:04 1859705 Link 2 |
I don't pay much attention to them these days either, but I hadn't read one pundit or jurno who didn't say he would get one, he was something like 2/7 on for it, but hierarchy felt it shouldn't happen as the way Meath won Leinster. Ziggy in 11 he was injured. Since then? Well played v well v Tyrone twice in championship also brought us back into Armagh game, plus was by far best player v Westmeath and we wouldn't have lost that game only for him been black carded, he was destroying Westmeath, yes a few poor performance v dubs, but that been said he was only Meath player double marked by them last twice we played. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 29/05/2016 17:22:30 1859751 Link 0 |

Was laughing to myself reading yesterdays Indo and how Dublin had played a match themselves in Nolan park last Saturday, at 7.00pm dunboynelad (Meath) - Posts: 227 - 02/06/2016 11:24:01 1860828 Link 1 |
Oh and the Tommy Lyons article during the week was spot on. No point in being in denial about it, he's right. dunboynelad (Meath) - Posts: 227 - 02/06/2016 11:43:12 1860831 Link 1 |
Who wouldn't love going into a game as underdogs with odds like that against them?

Hopefully Meath get access (and use the chance) to a run out in Parnell Park before Louth match, Newman need to be familiar with his surroundings for free kicks. Saw somewhere he has about a 67% success rate with frees, need to up that stat by 10 15%. We will need every one to count for rest of season. seadog54 (Meath) - Posts: 2214 - 02/06/2016 15:28:59 1860916 Link 2 |
Interesting article as usual from Jim McGuinness dunboynelad (Meath) - Posts: 227 - 07/06/2016 10:50:39 1862663 Link 0 |
I've said it a million time by now.You can not drop off on Dublins kick outs. You must press up and put pressure on.In Mickos first year we gave Dublin a game and what did we do? We pushed up on their kick outs.In our 16 point drubbing, for some reason we stood back and allowed Dublin to do what they wanted. ziggy32001 (Meath) - Posts: 8354 - 07/06/2016 11:35:38 1862697 Link 2 |
In relation to the kick-outs, you cannot drop off and give a team such easy primary possession. Jim McGuinness in his Times article outlined how Dublin pushed up on Laois at the weekend. Its very clever and effective. GoalsWinGames (Meath) - Posts: 307 - 07/06/2016 12:09:59 1862731 Link 0 |
It is quite obvious that if you want to beat a good team like Dublin, you do not give them easy possession like free kick outs. You require pace all over the pitch with a high work rate and good use of your possession while taking your scoring chances. browncows (Meath) - Posts: 2342 - 07/06/2016 15:24:48 1862885 Link 2 |
Step one, beat Louth

We could be starting up a 'How Can Meath Beat Derry in the Qualifiers' thread shortly enough if we're not careful, all talk of beating Dublin should be reserved for whenever we're actually playing Dublin. Htaem (Meath) - Posts: 8657 - 07/06/2016 21:01:58 1863196 Link 1 |
I keep saying it--if we can somehow stem the flow of chewing gum to Jim Gavin's mouth we should be able to give the dubs a game. bert09 (Meath) - Posts: 1820 - 07/06/2016 21:54:28 1863257 Link 0 |
Very easy answer How do Meath with their current squad of players beat Dublin. I will post an opinion but that was a lazy answer applicable to any team playing Dublin Frederick (Louth) - Posts: 479 - 08/06/2016 18:52:59 1863812 Link 0 |
