Well said on this. I'm not looking past Louth and that's it. Lets beat them... Talk like this leads to us falling on our arse... Everyone was saying the same about last summer, looking past Westmeath and look how that turned out... brian (Meath) - Posts: 1981 - 26/05/2016 17:13:11 1859020 Link 1 |

If we lose to Louth the team will fall apart. ziggy32001 (Meath) - Posts: 8354 - 26/05/2016 19:51:55 1859104 Link 2 |
Hopefully all concerned have learned a valuable lesson from the Westmeath defeat, we are in no position to take anyone for granted. 100% on the day nothing else will do. Worry about Dublin/Laois if we are playing them. seadog54 (Meath) - Posts: 2214 - 27/05/2016 10:58:37 1859241 Link 3 |
No doubt about it, I'm worried , this is the most fragile Meath team I have ever seen, both physically and mentally, royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 27/05/2016 13:56:42 1859328 Link 1 |
Louth are a wee bit cocky it has to be said. The division 4 title has gone to their heads. Was there as much said about us winning the o byrne! The game is 50/50 not as the odds would suggest but no JP rooney this time around to do damage. Jimin10 (Meath) - Posts: 783 - 27/05/2016 16:23:10 1859389 Link 0 |
any1 who thinks Meath will lose this game is deluded. we are far better than Louth... we will win this by 10 points pulling up we are preparing for Dublin in Leinster, no one else overthehill72 (Meath) - Posts:141 - 15/05/2016 18:59:23 1855100 Post Reply 0 0 I don't see any Louth posters been cocky on here. If anyone is cocky it is this Meath poster here. JP Rooney is gone but wee have players like Grimes, Burns and McEneaney on their day can do some damage. Anyone roll on June 12th. What evidence is there to suggest Louth are cocky? Maybe they think they have a chance of winning, how does that make them cocky? How dare they think they can win! :D ziggy32001 (Meath) - Posts: 8354 - 27/05/2016 19:11:24 1859431 Link 4 |
Louth are in no way cocky, and I sincerely hope no one in Meath is cocky either. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 27/05/2016 20:18:37 1859453 Link 1 |
Honestly? I think Meath will win, does that make me cocky? I just think we have better players overall than Louth and the players will be determined after Westmeath last year. ziggy32001 (Meath) - Posts: 8354 - 27/05/2016 20:47:30 1859460 Link 2 |
Meath are the favs with the bookies and rightly so considering Louth's championship record against the Royals. The last time I remember Louth been favs was in 2006 when the Wee County were slight favs. Louth won Division two after beating Donegal in a replay. Meath were relegated from Division one. Louth looked good at half time. They were winning 0-10 to 0-06. Louth were still in the dressing room for the second half as they did not score for the entire half. Meath won the match 1-15 to 0-10. Typical Louth. At the start of the second half Mark Brennan had a great chance to score a goal. He had a man inside of him. Instead of passing it he went himself. The Keeper saved it. If it passed it, Louth would of scored a goal and maybe it would of been a different result. It was strange that summer because Louth were not the only team not to score in one half of a match. It happened to Tyrone against Derry and Limerick against Kerry. OLLIE (Louth) - Posts: 12224 - 28/05/2016 10:20:41 1859509 Link 0 |
I remember been at that match Louth put on an exhibition of football in the 1st half as good as you could wish for. It was like a different team appeared for the 2nd half. I couldn't understand how a team could collapse like they did that day. Then along comes Meath last yr against Wesmeath almost a carbon copy.

I think whats often happened with Louth teams against Meath, was when they suddenly realised they could win the game, thats when they lost the game.At half time nerves got to them in 2006 I'd say.Even in 2010 nerves got to them, and obviously that famous game in 2002 along with 97(I think it was 97),if Louth beat Meath it will be in the last 15mins and after coming from behind.Thats also the situation were this current Meath team are more vunerable. ziggy32001 (Meath) - Posts: 8354 - 28/05/2016 14:03:43 1859559 Link 2 |
Ziggy that match with Louth and Meath was in 1998. Meath won by a point. Apart from the incident that happened at the end of the match in 2010, Meath were winning by 0-08 to 0-05 at half time. It took Meath something like 15 mins to get their first score in the second half against Louth. At this stage Louth were winning 0-09 to 0-08. It took a while for Meath to get going. Ah yes 98 you are correct. It was a very close game and I remember thinking phew that day.In 2010(apart from you know what),Louth let Meath get back into that game,I think they should have had it won well before the end.

I also thought the kicking away of the ball after sludden gave the free in hindsight was a huge mistake, not only did it give the kicker a option closer in, it allowed Meath to group closer in, also it antagonized the ref. But no one knew what was about to happen. Ollie is there any players still on Louth team from 10? If I'm right the only two from Meath will be biggy and burke, or was that the year burke broke his leg? Auld memory going I'm afraid. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 28/05/2016 16:48:34 1859579 Link 0 |

Royaldunne there are five Louth players on the present Louth team that were in the panel in 2010. Two of them started that day for the Wee County in the Leinster final. They are the present Louth captain Adrian Reid who scored a peach of a point that day and Colm Judge who scored a couple of points and was also send off. Decky Byrne came on as a sub. Padraig Rath who is the vice captain and Derek Maguire played no part.

Thanks for that Ollie, then if my sums are correct the only likely player for Meath is biggy b

2010 was a great year for Biggy. He scored four points against Louth in the Leinster final. He will be up for this match with him living close to the Louth border.
