DeJaMo On seen the heading I wasn't going pay much attention but reading it I see your point there is not point in turning without a game plan and at least a bit of belief. I still It will tight to get over Louth if they beat carlow. If we don't have a game plan to beat Cavan, Tyrone, Fermanagh this year.
And last year the game plan to beat Westmeath, How are going to beat Dublin ? If we do meet Dublin and everything goes wrong for Dublin and everything goes right for Meath. I still think Dublin will win. Its a good time of the year to play Dublin they wont be at 100% as they will aiming to peak in Aug/Sept. But Its just not going happen. There Is a general rule for me when playing Dublin if I can see Meath are about 3 points the better team before playing them then I think there is a chance of beating them. At the moment I think we are a minimum of 15 points behind them.

Yet you are mouthing off about the league , Meath can not and will not beat Dublin this year, Even if MOD played a total defensive game they would still break it down and beat us. The facts are Dublin are a million miles ahead of Kerry,Mayo,Donegal,Tryone,Monaghan and Rosscommon and all the these teams would beat Meath. The Dubs 2nd string would beat Meath and sadly this is a fact.

LOL. You missed the first and most important word in the heading "How"!!!

We all know Meath can't beat Dublin right now...the question is HOW (given our resources). I referenced the league results as it's Dublin's most recent games. Monaghan are a much smaller county than us and they tested Dublin to their limits. Okay it was the league but it was still a very competitive game. What I'm saying is there's smaller counties than us putting it up to Dublin. That's a fact based on recent league results.

So you can either respond with suggestions....the "HOW" or continue to state the obvious current situation Meath football is in.

Richieq- I think that you are getting carried away about the comment made about the 6 players on the team/ county panel. Any team in the county who have that number should be winning the senior championship by 10 plus points. There were no more than 1 or two players from any single junior or intermediate club on the 87/88 teams. Some folk make reference to T. Giles, however there are few of those type of players around now and he was coming on to a very experienced team. Of course Dublin are beatable but I do not see it happening in Leinster this year. They are at the top of their game and are one of the best teams around for a number of years.

Again if we beat Louth,I think Meath fans would be happy if we saw a good level of fitness and conditioning a gameplan and workrate even if its not good enough to compete with a team like Dublin,there are still things WE can do to be better.Most of these things are fundamental and no excuse after 4 years of a management team.

You are forgetting that some of the Ratoath players outside of county standard are about junior level.They have some fantastic players and its hard to argue against their inclusion on the Meath panel,but then its balanced with players who would only be junior level standard.A team like Summerhill for example haven't got many players that you would have on the Meath panel.But generally they are on older group and most of their players are of senior standard.Its a more balanced team as such and obviously more experienced too..

ziggy32001- Even the strongest senior teams in the county have players on their team who would be no better, or not as good as some players playing junior football and Ratoath players that you refer to as junior players are as good as the weaker players on any of the senior teams (they have good players all the way up thru their under age system). The difference between the better teams and weaker teams (intermediate etc) is that good teams have 3 or 4 excellent players and another 6 or 7 very good players with the last 3 or 4 players good but certainly no better than what you would get on any decent junior team. In the same way teams have won AI's with a few average players (by county standard). Unfortunately for us all the present Dublin team have no weak or average players in their setup, in fact they have at least 10 more players on the side line who would get their place on any of the top 4 teams in the country.

I would agree with that about Dublin.But at the same time we could be as good a Monaghan,Cavan etc and maybe just maybe give Dublin a bit of a game or do as good as anyone else to a degree. What worries me more about the possiblity of playing Dublin this year,is the fact that we likely will not have enough players with the required workrate,a well executed gameplan,fitness level nevermind the fact that Dublin have better players than us.

The thing is that we have far better players than Louth,yet we could not say with any confidence that we will win.All the reasons I have said in the above post is the reason why. At the end of the day teams not even at our level of player can beat us.This is the issue.After 4 years in charge there is no reason why we cannot be as fit as Dublin,be as strong or as mobile as Cavan( who also have a very young squad) have well executed tactical plans or a strong consistent workrate,thats regardless of the quality of player we have,in fact it makes this requirements even more important.
MOD keeps banging the drum that he is developing young players.But some of our young players have were brought in by MOD in that first year and he has not developed them.Throwing in young players is not developing them.Players in Cavan as an example are getting better developing as individuals and as a team.

Ahh jasus lads, first off no Westmeath loss in championship is a hell lot worse than loosing to Louth in league, so when Louth beat us in championship this year will that end mod disastrous tenure? Or will we get the same bs from mod about how young this team is and people will swallow it?
Unfortunately I am for the first time in my life 100% certain that we would have little or no hope v dubs should we meet. However as htaem Said I am actually very 50/50 about Louth, in Parnell park, if i was from neutral county id have to say Louth would be fav, so this thread is redundant until that hurdle is passed.
However I hope that I am wrong and mod suddenly turns into a capable manager, dont even want him to be good just average would make a nice change.

I think the whole county is resigned to losing to the Dubs if we manage to overcome Louth.

I don't really care how much we lose by. Dubs have hammered Kerry and Donegal recently so a hammering wouldn't look out of place. However, I do hope that if we go down to the dubs, we go down fighting. Literally fighting. The thoughts of the hill jeering on passes as we chase shadows and a 10 point lead would really get to me as a Meath fan. We need to be sore losers again like we were in the good years. Against Westmeath last year we could see defeat coming as the 2nd half wore on and just accepted it, no sign of frustration from anyone, except POR.

I would love if Gerathy was 20 years younger, a real hero for Meath and hate figure for the hill.. Seeing him on Philly McMahon would be worth the admission alone, no way he'd take a hammering from them lying down.

Yep, cos it's just that simple. I think you've been watching too much soccer with this "Sack the board, sack the board, sack the board..." stuff.

Any time someone in a position on CB steps down, there doesn't exactly seem to be a queue of people waiting to take over. So to keep bleating on about getting rid of the ENTIRE County Board on a message board is fairly pointless.

yep exactly Barneystie , on another post on a different subject there you were watching the CB's back. Maybe you'd be better suited to discussing the topic of the thread than watch the CB's back . This smells of CB PR planting on a football forum , I'm not sure, can't recall who the minister of Propaganda was for the "bold" side during WWII but Id say you'd give him a run for his money in PR .Propaganda .
