Very laboured performance from the U20s last night, Wexford were very much in that game up until about 5/7 mins to go where Meath just found a bit more and were ultimately too strong. They gave away 2 very soft goals too.

Looks like a semi-final vs Kildare or Louth given repeat pairings are to be avoided. Big step up needed to retain the title.

Certainly laboured in the first half but much better in the second, tackled well and turned over the ball which were converted to scores on a few occasions, far more direct in attack which resulted in some good scores. Held Wexford to 2pts in the second half, did concede 2 sloppy goals but one was a hail Mary lobbed in on the square and the second at the end. Will need a step up in performance v Louth/Kildare which I've no doubt they will do

Wexford were no pushover, Meath certainly had to work hard to ensure victory, anyway job done and back to donaghmore / Ashbourne club next Tuesday evening vs Kildare , who I believe are a big strong outfit with some excellent players, our lads will need to bring that intensity they showed against Dublin to progress

Best of luck to Cathal O Bric and the lads tonight. Kildare will be tough opposition but if we bring our A game we have every chance of beating them.

Strong performance tonight in very poor conditions to easily dispatch a very fancied Kildare side. Saw Meath were 11/4 pre-match so big outsiders.

Sets up a repeat of last year's u20 Leinster Final vs Louth who played in even worse conditions vs Dublin, but also looked good value for their win. No walkover but Meath will be strong favs.

Credit to all involved, that was a dominant win in awful conditions. Thought meath were so much tougher than Kildare, I shouldn't be surprised when Cathal Obric is over this team. As good as Rian Stafford was I thought Jamie Murphy again was a level above anyone on the pitch. There was a 2 point free in the 2nd half he scored that I'm not sure anyone on the senior panel could kick. Onto the leinster final in 6 days.

Massive win tonight in atrocious conditions, Meath adapted better and brought the fight to Kildare kicking massive scores including seven 2 pointers to kildares 1, savage defending, next up Louth probably in Parnell park, , let's get out and support them in the Leinster final

Murphy's free into a gale force wind off the ground as the water gushed into the air when he struck it. Curled over to perfection. Best score I have seen at any level this year given the circumstances.

Exceptional performance. Cathal O'Bric teams are full of dogedness and hardiness. Brilliant battling in those conditions in the second half to match the exceptional score taking (particularly from 2) of our forwards in the first half. Not to mention they are missing Conor McWeeney and Cian Commons who both played parts last year and would only add to it. Louth beat Dublin again and have 7 starters back from last years final so will be no pushover. But I have faith in this management team to get them right for it and faith in the talent of the players to carry it out

Murphy, McIvor and Stafford look made for the senior team. Murphy in particular needs to be involved this summer, he has the build and his striking off the ground reminded me of a Joe Sheridan at that age.

Agree with this. The way Murphy and Stafford kick two pointers i think Robbie should strongly consider both this summer. Mcivor has another year of u20s after this so he will probably have to wait that extra year.

Final provincial contenders confirmed last night. Ulster - Tyrone-Donegal, Munster-Cork-Kerry, Connacht-Mayo-Kerry.

Winners of Leinster will play winners of Connacht. Not looking past Louth, of course. Think it'll be tougher than last year.

leinster final is a pure 50-50 game, both teams will have to play very well on night to beat the other. louth will be very hard bet i think. but in saying that they will need to be at thier best to beat this meath team. louth seem to have really turned a corner in football in fairness to them. i wonder what changed in last 5 years
