Manager Merry Go Round

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I heard some of the elder statesmen of Trim were seen howling at midnight down by the River Boyne to welcome the very humble man who elected to be called a wolf, Paddy Andrews.

Now, now I won't play-act no more before the likes of the Guru call me out.

Interesting to see trim progress, Hopefully a year in division 2 gave them a chance to blood a few younger players, would be expecting a mid/top of the table finish from Trm in the league. Naf are always very competitive and don't give anyone an easy game.
Biggy has coaching experience from the Easter camps for kids, and I was very impressed with him there (my kid was there, not me). I've never seen a man bring such technical expertise to no man's land. Going to be very intriguing to watch those boys from Layton progress.

Does anyone know if Colm Nally is coaching anywhere?

Rumour going around Navan that Jordy Morris is transferring to Wolf Tones, apparently easier to get the transfer through coming from a club outside of Meath. Can anyone confirm if this is true? This would really be BLOCKbuster transfer and would put them on right-hand side of the driver's seat

This is exactly what Tommy Durnin did in Louth.

He played for The Westerns who were a Junior club, and tried to get a transfer to St Mary's Ardee but it was blocked. So instead he moved out of the county and went to Iniskeen, meaning when he transferred back to a Louth club - he could essentially pick where he wanted to go as it couldn't be blocked.

This rumour has been circling for a while with Jordan Morris and Tones. Hard to know if there's any truth in it, I suppose it would make sense. They're only 10 mins up the road from Nobber and wouldn't have any kind of true rivalries with Nobber like the clubs around would (Meath Hill, Castletown, Rathkenny) - so I doubt there'd be any resistance.

No disrespect, but this rumour will be proven to be just that: a rumour.

Replying To Cabbagepatch1667:  "Yeah you'd think Kilbride is prime location for a population surge given its location, and the fact the GAA clubs is centre to the community.

But you'd have said the same about Clonee and while it has had the population increase, the people moving there didn't get involved in GAA. Now I know the whole St Paul's moving to the far side of Dunboyne didn't help, but population doesn't guarantee participation. The Navan clubs are feeling that right now."
Very true - but I suspect the way Kilbride is run they will do a good job of taking advantage of the population growth!

So - heard last weekend that Paul Galvin will not be with Ratoath next year! I believe that you are going to appoint from within! Would be a good move in my opinion! You still have a really talented squad and while there are a few lads on the older end, you also have a few guys coming through who will have benefitted from last year! Great to see Tomas Corbett back with the hurlers - he'll be good for ye on the football side!

Yes, makes sense. There are good canidates there Like DermotRooney, and Alan Cooley, Ray Maloney, marty Mannering, John Ryan ,who have all excelled in various teams within the club already and of course Davy Byrne who won their first keegan cup, was their best senior manager, and is still there. Can't see anything better than this impressive list.

Colm must think there is potential in stamullen. I heard he could have Niall Ronan on the coaching ticket. Not sure how that will go down in laytown

Strong links with former Rossie manager Davy Burke, who is taking over from Galvin. I believe he's from Kilcock, so it would be a very easy commute compared to Roscommon. I know he's involved with Brian Flanagan, the Kildare squad ,but we have seen it done before where a selector on an intercounty side manages/trains a club team.

This would be a very smart decision if they went with him, he'll get the most out of this talented squad and play an attacking, free-flowing football that Ratoath have been crying out for.

What managers are without a club at the moment that would potentially that over a minor club team?

I've heard that Colm O'Rourke and Brendan Murphy have significantly strengthened their background team at Simonstown with the addition of Kevin McManamon, formerly of Dublin and St. Jude's. McManamon, who is currently the St. Jude's U21 manager, will join Simonstown as a Transition/Forwards Coach , While Monaghan duo formerly of kings court Owen and Benny Lennon have taken the Ballinlough Job!

Former Meath footballer Graham Reilly has taken on the lead role with St. Vincent's after leaving Maghera in Cavan, where he was involved as a coach in 2023 and as manager in 2024.
