While most county championships are at an advanced stage, the action doesn’t start in Fermanagh until this weekend when Kinawley and Devenish face off in the opening game of the SFC on Saturday.
That will be followed on Sunday by three more first round ties. Holders Enniskillen Gaels take on Ederney, Erne Gaels play Belnaleck and Derrygonnelly Harps and Roslea Shamrocks meet in a battle of the recently-crowned Division 1 and 2 League champions. Derrygonnelly needed extra-time to get past Dominic Corrigan’s Kinawley in the Division 1 decider, while Sean Quigley scored six points for Roslea in their Division 2 success.
It's customary for the New York Cup race to start this late in the year. The eight-team competition is split into two groups of four with the top team going straight through to the semi-finals and the second and third-placed teams qualifying for quarter-finals, while a relegation playoff awaits the bottom-placed teams in each group.
