2021 Hurling Championship - 4 Like(s)

Replying To Richardkimble:  "Some interesting games over the weekend some expected wins for Limerick, tipperary and kilkenny. The biggest surprise was Dublin beating Galway. We will only know how good a performance that was after the leinster final. The most disappointing team has to be wexford after their collapse in extra time after going a goal up and kilkenny reduced to 14 men. This was a total bottle job by wexford they were diabolical to a man, nobody wanted to drive on and horse into the cats they just threw in the towel. Some of their players were more interested in coming off than anything else they looked like they were happy to take it lying down yellow bellies for sure."
What a total reckless statement about amateur sportsmen who ran themselves into the ground for 70mins, under normal circumstances this should of been a reply, unlike kilkenny cork tipp and maybe cork other counties do not have the numbers, and numbers with fresh legs won yestetday, any respect i have for laois after your cheap shot is gone,
Great game of hurling and proud of both amateur teams for one god dam great effory

Will Rugby Take Over From Gaelic Football - 3 Like(s)

Replying To Redhot:  "Will rugby become the top sport in Ireland in the next 10 years ?

Looking at the Munster and Leinster teams in the rugby champions cup quarter-finals last weekend and you see the number of players who hail from places where none or very little was played in the past you have to say that it is making big inroads into the GAA areas"
Stop this post before it starts please?????

Love most sports but just find rugby very over hyped over the last ten years..

Interesting article from Joe brolly in yesterday's independent comparing how rugby implement rules to keep their game as spectacle compared to the gaa and gaelic football.
Attended double header in gorey, first up hurling, very one sided game but at least the 30 players on the field played to the basic principles of hurling, football next up and had to leave before half as did 3/4 of the crowd..
Pure bore, hand passing and defensive play@!??
Really enjoyed playing football when I was younger but only for hurling now I would find it very difficult to be a gaa supporter.. as a spectator game rugby is far easier on the eye to match that gaelic football but really should not be. Gaa decision makers should note what Joe brolly is trying to preach for the sake of gaelic and before its takes hurling down with it....

to rugby people they are important games i mean look at the emotion on the players faces after beating the all blacks,"]Would ireland please go and beat the all blacks in a world cup ..
Then we can have something to talk about, not some over hyped autumn money making challenge match in the USA...
Fair dues to the rugby guys in fairness in leading the brainless to believe that these matches really mean something!!!
Bit like wexford beating kilkenny in a spring challenge match then hammered in the summer championship

Not a bit petty..
For a gaa forum its seems that it you say anything negative about rugby you will get hammered by certain people on here..
I have played and enjoy all sports but what gets to me is the total overloaded hype that rugby gets on rte and the press in general..
Looking forward to the game this evening but really ireland plays well above its weight in Rugby and its general popularity is totaly hyped

Why would there have to be a break for the news?
What would be wrong with 9.5 hours of coverage?

2 one sided games to boot. How many were at that 20's game? Few hundred? If that's the criteria for showing sport on RTÉ they'll have to show most club games from around the country. But at least we won a game in November that's the main thing. Not getting spanked by an average wales team on Friday night, that doesn't matter.
Bain (Donegal) - Posts:433 - 12/03/2017 17:05:10
Since when has the match attendance at a game determined whether it gets coverage on tv or not?

Only game in the world that a practice match win in november means more than the championship..
Over hyped bull
tonydoranfan (Wexford) - Posts:198 - 12/03/2017 19:49:18
What practice game was won?
November test match = practice match to make money to pay the professional game??!! And that is fact!!!!!
Call it want you want, over hyped practice matches that mean nothing ...
I hear mayo bet the dubs in a practice match in november ..
No need to look it up
tonydoranfan (Wexford) - Posts:198 - 12/03/2017 20:18:48
Look you dont get it. Rugby internationals are called test matches. Theyre the ultimate test within the sport. They are not practice games. You dont know anything about rugby if you think the november games only exist to pay the pro game. You cannot compare GAA challenge matches compared to rugby international test matches"
I dont think you get it....
New zealand tour Europe to make money!!!!!!!!!! Why was the match in Chicago????? The try and tap into the American cash cow, would you please wake up!!!
Professional rugby costs money to run and a small country like new zealand has to finance same, how?? Over hyped practice matches that mean f..all...!!!
Lads this is fact and has been stated many times in the rugby sports pages of our national papers....

Good man bloodyban........you should come up and try promote hurling before you throw insults at those that do.........your right over half the population in Down and Antrim don't want to play Gaelic games but it's nothing to do with the GAA not being welcoming and all to do with their own mentality."]Well said paudie... the problem down south is that we are over run with "want to be" protestants you want to be in with the in crowd!!! ie rugby!!!!!

where is mick O'Connell from ??

''O'Connell added that the modern game doesn't appeal to him and he feels that the rules these days have changed the game completely.

"I call it Gaelic, not Gaelic football. I go to watch Valentia playing, and that's about it. I don't bother with Kerry games anymore. I don't blame the players; the game adapted to the rules that are there. But while I still enjoy watching sport, Gaelic does not hold any appeal to me. It's totally different to the game I know."

Replying To Laois76:  "There's a lot of talk about 'passion' for the game. Passion isn't confined to roaring and bawling! Is Pat Critchley from my own county Laois any less passionate of a hurling man, because he conducts himself quietly on the sideline, than Davy. Pat has managed Laois at every level along with many club teams. Anytime Laois are in a heap at county level, which is fairly frequently, himself or the likes of Cheddar Plunkett step into the breech. There are numerous examples of passionate hurling men up and down the country. Often with fire in the belly but ice in the brain.

I think it was Pinkie who said here he's 50,000 times more passionate about Wexford hurling than Davy. And i couldn't agree more. A man born and bred in the traditions his county and a fella who has managed several county, college and club teams and is in the Wexford job all of 6 mts!!"
Thank god hurling is never boring both on and off the field....full of great characters!@#
Can we please move on from last weeks match as its now over and old news!!!!
We have a great summer championship to look forward too!!!!
Galway brilliant today and tipp back in their box for now but will be different animal come cork match.. cats licking their lips to kill wexford come June, waterford limerick clare dublin all primed for action.
Antrim meath and laois off the mark all ready and hopefully davy will have fire in the yellow bellies this summer..tipp and the cats can be bet and that is for sure?!!@
So why the hell are we still talking about this incident!
Move on please..

I have been involved with coaching with this age group with my club since these boys were u8, that is far from the best 24 boys of 16 and 17 year olds in wexford, we will never be competitive at underage in wexford ,Nepotism is destroying wexford at underage, it was there when I was minor 20 years ago and is still alive and well today, two boys from the club of the senior coaching officer speaks volumes really,
