Few lads off our minor all ireland team that didnt play senior last year must have a chance. Likes of Flanagan, Power, Kennelly, Gillespie all worth a shout on that team

In Meath, anyone who HAS NOT played senior championship club football in 2012 is eligible, so long as they did not play with the Meath seniors the same year.

I think Meath were looking for this rule changed as most other counties can pick from senior club players too (all except Dublin, Kildare, Meath, Cork and Kerry I think).

The competition was not taken very seriously last year and I don't see things improving much this year. Its these competitions which we must make more use of to develop players.

Naw Meath never looked for that change sure they had a vote last year not to play in it at all it is a pimple on the bum of the county board appointing a manager in last week of march to have a team ready in May sure an U-12 team would have better preparation. At least this year the manager will know a few players having been involved with Juniors last few years, The likes of Crosby, McNamara and I hear Conor Sheridan will get a chance to develop as will Adam Flanagan, Robbie Burlinham, Willie McGrath, Declan Smyth and maybe Harry Rooney (dont think he played senior with Skyrne), what about Shane McEntee and them Ratoath lads who where on U-21s and the Na Fianna boys too. Thats what he needs plenty of young lads.

Are the lads who have played in this years NFL ineligible?

Also, are there any lads form senior clubs who didnt line out in the SFC last year? maybe young Sheridan from Siminstown? I think David Bray came on as a sub in the Leinster club championships, he would have been a handy lad to call on.

Personally I think the competition should be used for players on the development squad, and give them something to work twords. We need to make more use of the competition and try and get a closer connection to the senior squad. I know it's difficult with out being able to pick form senior clubs, but it gives an opportunity to players from the lower tiers.

Thats a good team you posted there. All young players who have the potential to make the seniors.
The Junior Team should be a stepping stone to the senior team, it should resemble a Meath B Team, as much as possible. No has-beens or guys who will clearly never make it to the seniors.

The Meath Juniors isn't about giving lads from NaFianna a match, its about developing players for the senior team.
