OLLIE I wouldnt be getting too excited about Colmcilles. On Tuesday they struggled to beat a Donaghmore Ashbourne second string who were missing 5 of the better players from the team that contested the Junior A final last year and were not allowed to play 3 of this years county mionors. If you took Biggy out of the cilles team they would be very average.

I did say it was early days. Ciaran Kelly is another good player for the Cilles.

for all the talk about the poor weather, 16 points for ratoath wasnt a bad return. a workmanlike performance. much better display by bobby o'brien after a quiet game against castletown. all in all, a great start to the campaign for ratoath.

My Money on Dunderry this year,Alot of talk about Ratoath but they will need this year to settle in intermediate,Ballinabrackey have lost 3 senior players from last year and with carroll and o connor injured they fell short againt a very average castletown team, saying that if they get both players fit they would be a huge addition and could cause ratoath problems in the last round,i expect ballivor to concede the games against bracks and ratoath so the biggest game could be bracks v ballinlough yet.what would happen if ratoath, ballinlouugh and bracks all finished on 6 points ? does it come down to score difference ?

Yeah if theres more than 2 teams level then score difference seperates them.

can anyone explain to me what way the qualification to knockout stages works... 2 straight semi finalist last year i think trim and na fianna were in th semis and ballinabrackey had more pionts than trim but still only went to the quaters these teams all won ther group.. correct me if im wrong

themadzerbyrne new format to intermediate since two were promoted last year from junior and no one was relegated means top two teams go straight into quaterfinal from each group two teams from four groups, would be expecting ballinabracky to win outright as they have the best squad and will coming out of a tough group will stand to them, cant see ratoath qualifying as a lot of there players do not have the bottle when the going gets tough

see page 6

Top team in Group A qualifies for Semi-Final. The second and third teams in Group A along with the top 2 Teams in Group B & C qualifies for Quarter Finals.

Not so sure what you mean there, Damien Carroll was playing against Castletown, perhaps the roasting he got made it look like he wasnt playing. Castletown and Ratoath will qualify out of this group

Lol....The roasting he got ?? he was playing on the edge of the square, first time he ran in 8 weeks, great lad though, never lets his club down, remember him fit last year in the first round against castletown playing at mid field, man of the match,if castletown get out of this group i will personally donate 1.000 euro to charity, they are the worst team in the group by a country mile.

the lutch -that is an absolutely ridiculous staement castletown i believe are the only intermediate team playin top tier league football in meath and could in no way be called the worst team in the group...i somehow doubt you will donate that money when castletown qualify for the quaters... and im not a castletown man either before you harp on about that

Come on thelutch stop making such stupid comments. It was not his first time to run in 8 weeks and thats a fact. Will you stick by your statement and donate that large amount of money to charity...somehow I think you will be eating your words...

league football is only a cod and anyone who knows anything about football knows this. ratoath beat castletown very easily 15 points wudnt have flattered them and they are div 3 Leaugue football has no relavence to championship football

spot on madzerbyrne, castletown overachieved last year and are living on its achievement, league football means nothing come championship.it will be ballinlough and either ratoath or the bracks that will qualify, ballinlough will steam roll castletown as they in my opinion beat a injury stricken team by 2 points.I wonder will ballivor fulfill their remaining 2 fixtures ? could not field a team in league last sunday at home !

i can only judge on what i have seen, and castletown were very poor against ratoath. despite rebounding well in their next game, i think they could struggle this year. i realise i am basing that judgment on one match, but thats all i have seen from them this year. once ratoath got in front that day, i felt a couple of the ratoath forwards started trying to boost their individual stats rather than collectively killing castletown off. easily should have been more than the final winning margin. and i know the castletown lads strongly fancied themselves that day...

League football usually means nothing but it counts for something when theres one team in the top division and one in the third! As for Ballivor if they believe they cant fulfill a fixture I think they should use the oppurtunity to blood young lads. It will do them good.
