Intermediate championship 2013

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

can someone please explain how qualification works for the knockout stages? I am under the impression that the top 2 teams in each group make the 1/4 finals as well as the 3rd place team in group A while the 3rd place team in B and C playoff for the last spot.

However I was told that its different so Im not sure?

I'm sure the Intermediate championship will throw up shocks and surprise contenders as it always does but my predictions at this early stage of the year are:

Group A: Dunderry and The Michaels.
Group B: Can only be Trim and Kells that qualify here.
Group C: Ratoath could well be competitive with their youth and pace but would expect Castletown and Ballinlough to get through this years 'Group of Death'.

The league will give us a better idea of how teams are shaping up for the year after hard winter training and some more potential contenders could well be added to the above list as the weeks run towards Championship.

They're the odds according to Paddypower, I'd say they're accurate enough?

Trim 9/2
Ballinlough 9/2
Dunderry 11/2
Ballinabrackey 11/2
Kells 6/1
Ratoath 6/1
St Colmcilles 15/2
Castletown 12/1
St Michaels 12/1
Ashbourne 14/1
Longwood 16/1
Syddan 18/1
Carnaross 25/1
Ballivor 25/1
St Ultans 28/1
Clann na Gael 33/1

Well the first four teams on the list don't have a hope in hell of winning the Championship

Who do you think will win it so? I reckon any team down as far as Michaels have a chance. I would say that Ballinabrackey are a bit short and Castletown a bit long but apart from that they are brob fair enough odds. I have seen worse odds put out. The junior is a total joke altogether.

Winner will come from the 2nd 4 teams on the list = Castletown, Kells, Ratoath, St Colmcille's

Tackleberry, Wouldn't have a clue about the Junior tbh.
Trim seem to be in serious bother so can't see them mounting a challenge.
No standout team that I can see. Ratoath maybe but may be too young this year

Its early days yet but Colin Kelly seems to be working his magic with the Cilles. He has won inter championship in Louth as a manger with the Dreadnots and the Rats!

its weird how you consistently put down ratoath's chances in every game and big up their opponents considering you play for them haha

Bobby o Brien looks like a decent player for ratoath this year what do you think??

It should be an interesting game tonight between Ballivor and Ratoath.. Itll will be interesting to see how the young players on each team play.. Both teams seems to have very influential young players such as, O brien, Wallace and Mcmahon from Ratoath, who have all represented Meath at u21 level and Wallace at senior also. There is also Kevin mckeon, who kicked 7 points aswell as John Murray who were very impressive in the first match.

OLLIE I wouldnt be getting too excited about Colmcilles. On Tuesday they struggled to beat a Donaghmore Ashbourne second string who were missing 5 of the better players from the team that contested the Junior A final last year and were not allowed to play 3 of this years county mionors. If you took Biggy out of the cilles team they would be very average.

I don't think people mean Ballivor are out of the championship with no more games to play but more like it's gonna be near impossible for them to get out of their group now.
