shocking that longwood gave cillies the points in last round of championship! for the fact that cillies will miss out on a competitive game and for undermining the integrity of the competition!
ever hear the phrase playing for the prode of the parish?

Went to the ratoath game last night! had damo carroll scored his frees I think the bracks would have won it...ratoath very very poor in second half and look a bit young at this level!

was going to go to the dunderry v clan na gael game tonight, but did I hear somewhere that shane mcanerney cant play?? would be a huge loss to their hopes!

Hello lads,no im here, not donating money because of ballivors actions 2 weeks ago allowing castletown to win by 22 points.Saying that i wish castletown all the best, was at their game last night in carnaross and i stand by my statement that ratoath and ballinabrackey were the 2 best teams in the group, lady luck was absent from the bracks all year and i reckon that if the bracks had a fit damien carroll and chris o connor against castletown in rd 1 they would have joined ratoath in q/f.Castletown are simply not good enough to win this championship, relying on 2 very light forwards to make things happen and a good physical team will wipe the floor with them,As for ratoath i think last nights game will really stand to them come the knockouts, was chatting a ratoth supporter this morning and he said the 2 early goals was the difference in the end but he was concerned with the way the bracks dominated the 2nd half of the game and he says they will have to improve to win the championship.

Ill stick with St colmcilles but ratoath are serious contenders now with that very tough game under their belt.Best of luck to all the teams.

Was off cycling last night and seeing as i was in the area I decided to pop in and see the Ratoath and Ballinabracky game last night in Longwood , good entertaining game
Some good football played from both sides, Ratoath had the game won with the two early goals , and the brack could
only get within 3 of Ratoath after that.

Thought the two County men were quite enough Wallace and Carroll
Although Wallace seemed to be marshalled by Juicy , Wallace did burn him on a few occasions when he got space in front of him and had he been a bit more selfish gotten a few more scores

The majority of the Bracks scores were from dead balls from Carroll ,I was surprised he was as accurate from the ground as he was
They had Ratoath on the rack in the 2nd half but Ratoath did just enough and fell over the line

Ratoath are a handy side but the backs are the weak link ,they fouled an awful lot last night and against a bigger stronger team I feel they will be over powered like they were in the second half last night , a team like Dunderry or Kells should take them

Bracks can count themselves unlucky, they had plenty of chances but just couldnt seem to convert when it came to it , The number 9 had an awful miss from a quick Carroll free!!

Guys if Damian Carrol scored his frees Bracks would have won ref absolutely rode Ratoath all game and the amount of frees given to Bracks especially in second half was crazy I would love to here from a neutral about this In a game a game that had no dirty play Ratoath got 6 yellow cards to the Bracks 1 I really would love to hear from a neutral or even a Bracks fan what they tought about ref Ratoath won so this is not sour grapes and I do credit Bracks who are a very well organised team with a great defence but game definitely was not refereed fairly I'd like to hear other people's opinions

I was not there but a few lads from ballinabrackey did say the ref did the bracks no harm !! That might mean a few handy frees however i believe the bracks were outraged by a very dangerous tackle on carroll in the very 1st minute that should have been a straight red and maybe the ref had that in the back of his mind.Anyways are you really surprised by poor referring in the county ?? The standard is very poor in fairness.

The match report by the ratoath p.r.o on here seems to think that ratoath were very lucky to hang on but they did and that win will do them the world of good.

thelutch take a lie down good man.

Hard luck to Ballinabrackey they played very well last night, bossed midfield in the second half. But unfortunately, the two early goals proved crucial. Ratoath have some good young footballers but are weak. I dont think they will win the championship this year, definetly in the next 2-3 years. Much stiffer challenges lie ahead for Eamonn Barry's men.

Am I right in saying Ratoath now play second in Group B (Gaeil Colmcille)? That would be an intriguing encounter! Eamonn Barry v Jody Devine. Devine was part of Barry's backroom team when he was county manager.

@ the lutch. Who is bracks manager? And is Chris O'Connor back to best? As I feel he still has lots to offerthe mMeath senior team.

@royaldunne

Bracks had joint managers this year,d.bannon & a.dalton who were both selectors when we won the championship in 2010 and leinster title in 2011,they also managed our u-21 team in 2011 that won the title for the 1st time in 21 years.

Chris o connor is a terrific clubman just like the other 23 on the panel that give 100% each time he takes to the field at league, championship or challenge games,he suffered a injury early in the year but recovered quickly.I agree with you as regards he has lots more to offer Meath as we discovered against the dubs and tyrone, would he be a better defender than micky burke ? Yes i think so but just like terry ferguson and fevin foley down thru the years his and there work rate went un noticed. His workrate off the ball is always impressive and he uses possession extremely well when on the ball,as a spectator i always feel comfortable when he is in possession as he always seems to make the right decision when moving the ball.

thelutch, Castletown's facile win against Ballivor had nothing to do with them qualifying. Had they even drawn that game, they would still have qualified having beat Ballinabrackey. Had Ballivor played a stronger team, I'd still have been amazed if Castletown didn't beat them. At least admit that you never had any intention of following through when you were proven wrong. Looking for excuses just makes you seem pathetic.

The game in Longwood on Thursday showed that Ratoath aren't unbeatable. The lads play some magnificent football at times but can overplay the ball at times. Also found it very difficult to break down the Bracks' mass defence at times and were destroyed in midfield for large parts of the second half. Free taking was another obvious problem. Carroll put a good few over from the 45 whereas apart from one or two frees straight in front of the posts, we missed several easy opportunities.

Referee was atrocious. At times in the second half, all a Bracks player had to do was lose his footing (literally) and he got a free. Ballinabrackey were experienced enough to play to this. Another thing that this team lacks because of its youth. Hopefully the first championship game in months will dust off the cobwebs for the league final and the quarter final against Kells or Donaghmore/Ash. Still to be convinced whether we can win it or not.
