Meath Minors in 2013

How can you say that we are miles off Dublin when this crop of minor players havn't even competed against them yet? All they can do is beat what's in front of them and that's what they did last weekend quite comprehensively.

Its me that has one alright. I'm just enjoying the craic here. I'm probably the only that doen't find that 12 virgins thread remotely funny. This is my entertainment!
BTW I'm not the one with the Eastern conspiracy theory! I leave it up to the McEntees, Daltons, Coyles and Dudley's of this County to determine who should be on the minors. I'd be odd like that....

Great performance from all involved last weekend. It's all well and good picking out strong indiviuals but McEntee is putting together a strong squad, players who he and his selectors think will work well together. he needs a hard working team, players who link up well together, not a great bunch of individual players, "but its only Wexford" meath can only beat whats put out in front of them, We will take every victory as it comes and look forward to the next match. How did the players from dunboyne and Ratoath who according to many people on this shouldnt be on the team do? Anyone?

Overall Meath underage structures and development is way behind Dublin, thats not to say this years minors can't beat Dublin if they meet which I hope they, and even if they do it wouldn't change the fact that we are still way behind them. As shown by Dublins O'Byrne cup games and even their league game at the weekend last years minors and current U21s are well able to step straight up to senior, thats not the case with Meath players.

Go to Dublin's hoganstand page if you're going to keep praising them. Bit of support for our minors wouldn't go astray!

Bit of Support? Where was all the Meath support at the minors matches last year? I went to as many minor matches last year as I could, Mullingar, Leinster Final,I was up in Newry when Meath beat Tyrone, with only handful of Meath supports there, Croke Park for the Mayo game and I was at the All Ireland.

This is a discussion and I am making a point that the Dublin underage structures in general is ahead of Meaths, from U14 up to U21. I think most posters on here will agree. There is no point in turing a blind eye to his fact. There is good work going on but as Gerry McEntee said in an interview last year we need to replicate what Dublin are doing at underage. And I will repeat this is not to say we can't beat them this year which I hope to God we do. I will go and support minors this year as much as I can and I will go and support them on Sat against Wicklow, so I think you are getting the wrong impression of me.

Great to watch the minors today after the muck in Clones last Sunday. Impressed with McGovern, McGowan, Dixon, Wallace and O'Grady. Rowe is a great player as well. But it was a great team effort, Wicklow made it difficult at times for them and in fairness they didn't give up. In fairness those who are always against Ratoath the two players playing today are well worth a chance anyway.

The Rowe & Wallace show rode into town today!

Throw in, McEntee, O' Coileain & Lyons, it looks like five forward positions are nailed.
We have loads of good defenders & a couple of top Keepers. If we can find a couple
of Midfielders we could go a long way?

Any word on the game in Bective ?

Good result against what I believe was poor opposition, but am really looking forward to seeing them in action. For all the stick A McEntee has gotten on this thread as well as accusations of geographical conspiracy lately, he must be given credit for two huge wins in a week whilst giving game time and chances to 30 odd players. I didn't agree with every decision he made last year but given the torrid last few Months he's endured he seems to have hit the ground running. Lets give him a chance to implement whatever he has planned.

Minors handled Wicklow with a bit to spare and in a challenge played in Bective they beat a 2nd Wicklow side in all around 48 players used and that dont count the St Pats lads. They are tru to Semi Final now probably v Kildare. Game away to Carlow dont matter as Meath top the group so expect more fringe players be given a chance to claim a place
