Agree that some of the bigging up of the team is ridiculous. We haven't beaten anyone of consequence to be honest. It was nice to end the run of defeats against Kildare but they're not exactly world beaters themselves.
Have we not learnt from previous years? In 2007, we had beaten Tyrone and went into the semi final against Cork as overwhelming favourites to make it to the final. Same as 2001 when we hockeyed Kerry in the semi final only to be beaten out the gate by Galway.
We're only in a Leinster final and we could conceivably be out of the championship in 3 weeks time. Comparing the young players to the 1996 team is laughable at this stage and could come back to bite us. Dublin are, right now, on a different level to us and if they play to their potential, they will beat us. If we manage to overcome them, then maybe we can dare to dream.

i think what people are trying to say is just dont get too cocky about us winning or anything which i dont really think we are because surely were allowed look forward to a leinster final with dublin when there hasnt been one in 11 years. we put in a good performance the last day were just hoping they can do that again for the final.

i dont think the problem is us fans getting carried away because thats no harm but i know for a fact the players read hoganstand and id be afraid that when the younger lads read how there been compaired to the 96 team it could go to there heads a bit

Yeah it was a good performance against Kildare and of course we are delighted to be in another Leinster Final,especially against the All-Ireland Champions.We can't call this a good Meath team until we can get consistent.

Bob your probably right but should the players really be reading these forums on the lead up to a Leinster final. Hopefully Banty has told them to stay away from the papers and sites like this. I found out the other day a former Meath great is a regular poster on here so I'm sure the current players have an interest too.

Yeah I know of one very well known former player who posts on hear, but he wouldn't tell me his username , and I wouldn't devolve mine but I guess it won't take a genius for him to figure I am the same person as was talking to him, so that's one up to him. now this wasn't even going when he was playing so that wouldn't have been a problem then.
I think its fairly odds on that current players will have a gander at these sites, but I am sure they will know that its only fans like myself getting carried away, but said it already I don't think one of us are convinced we will win , but for 2 weeks we can hope and believe. We beat what has turned out to be a very ordinary kildare team, I actually think we avoided the harder side of the draw in wexford and dublin,
So let's build it up ourselves, but let's not forget the likelihood of winning is very slim. But we can and should enjoy the build up. And let the team know we are 100% behind them
