Kildare will steamroll Meath im afraid! The only Meath player that would make the kildare team is Shane O Rourke and the rest wouldnt even make our junior team

The referees in the recent Meath Kildare games have been very poor and have gone against Meath. In the All-Ireland Quarter-Final the ref from galway(cant remember his name) sent off Seamus Kenny for nothing and let a lot of Kildare off the ball fouling go. We all know what Sil Doyle did in the Lienster Championship last year when he didnt give give the GG goal and other decisions in that game went against us. Then in the qualifier last year the decisions went the way of Kildare.

Ah no i apologise for my previous post that was a slight exaggeration. But seriously ive been goin to kildare games since the 80's and this is as confident as ive ever been going into a championship game against meath. I have no doubt we will beat ye by 6 or 7. We are in far better shape than last year while ye are rebuilding.

Is there a shortage of referees for intercounty games or something? This will be the third time Collins has refereed a Meath game this season (Kildare in the league and the Louth game being the other two). Also, Padraig Hughes seems to be popping up at our games regularly as well having reffed four games this year. So out of 11 games this season between league and championship (Sunday week included), more than half will have been reffed by these two officials. I don't think it's a good idea to have certain referees in charge of one team's games so regularly.

Your right he did ref it and didn't give the foul on gg which would have tied the game.

Sashman will we see you on hear on the 2nd no matter what the result?

Look I maybe completely wrong but if the real meath team turns up I can't see us loosing.
Look at some of our players. K reilly, keoghan, g reilly, bray, farrell, forde, joe, ward, if there on form I'd be confident of a win. And thats they problem, if !!!
We have the more natural forwards. Throw into that byrne back to his best, queeney to come on, young carroll. I just feel we should be beating this kildare team with a few points to spare.
But it is the inconsistency that is destroying us.
Let's hope banty, evans, giles, geraghty have them prepared mentally to focus on what the have to do. Its time to put this hoodoo to bed and this is the perfect time to do it.

What is a 'natural forward' anyway?

Agree with that Royaldunne. If we can break even at midfield then I feel our forwards could do it. Kildare don't have goal-scoring forwards, we do.

If we can hit Kildare on the counter-attack, long ball onto the forty after they've pushed their wing-backs forward, that's where we can hurt them. Whether we stick to the running game or not for the full seventy minutes should be interesting?

you musta been watching "Braveheart" again! Appreciate your rousing optimism, I sincerely hope that Meath team turns up also!

If it's a question of mindset, heres the theory! and why we should be in good frame:
> losing 5 previous to the flourbags, especially :
- the most recent in the NFL with a last kick
- GG goal last year
> defying Martin McHugh's "soft" comments
> a possible crack at the Dubs or Wexford

Such should sharpen focus - nuff said! Let me on that pitch!

Rathoath royal this is what I was complaining about last year Coldrick refereed at least 3 of kildare matches last year apart from the blimp v donegal he's a good enough ref. I dont think we actually had any other referee's but the ones from meath and i thought or heard at the time it was because HQ wanted to pay less to referee's for travel expenses hence cormac reilly (meath) doing kildare v dublin etc I wrote at the time that ref's should be from or put in charge of match's where there own county is not involved in the same provenice I dont mean to question their intergrity but I think its only right.
I was told by royaldunne at the time that all we do is winge about ref's but anyway..Ive noticed since Pat Mc has took over referee's commitee it seems that referee's are appointed from outside the provenice than the two counties involved in the match ie. (kildare v offaly had kerry ref) (meath v kildare cork ref) again I feel this is only right.

Fully agree lilywhitemagic we spent the year either playing Meath last year or being refereed by Meath. If is was mentioned on the Kildare forums we were slammed by Meath posters, not Meath seem to be going into this match with a ready planned excuse just in case the result doesn't go their way. Just a little bit of double standards there. Kildare to win by 4+, Meath are not in a good place, regardless of win over Carlow don't see them taking much heart from that win as it took them two attempt and in the end was a good win but over a poor division 4 team. Looking at league this year is was plain to see our boys are up for the fight this season and are gunning for Leinster, if not more. I know we hear all the time we are arrogant and cocky but I seriously am not, I am aware of what we have won and of our limitations. I still think there is an All-Ireland in this current panel. The league give gives our boys the feeling of winning something important and the experience from that could push us over the line come late July or hopefully late September. I am aware we are not the best team in ireland but we are well up there in the top 4 for the way we play at the moment. That can't be argued with. That is not going on history or what we have or haven't won but where the team is. It seems we're always the bridesmaid and never the bride lately, I think this year that will change.
