Room for Caoimhin King

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

The way i look at it lads is from now on any team meath play are gona try and draw kevin reilly as far as they can away from meaths goals.well thats what i would do if i was trying to beat meath.so what we need is a good corner back who can step into cover for reilly when this happends.caoimhin is made for this role if you ask me

theres more to the Caoimhin V Banty situation than meets the eye. he doesnt strike me as the type of lad that would just give up just because he wasnt getting his place on the team. theres obviously stuff going on behind closed doors that no one on the outside seems to be aware of. bobjaffacake while i agree with you in theory and understand where you are coming from I have always felt that Caomhin would be more suited to a half back position.

County: All

Id be inclined to agree that theres more to it than him just leaving because he didnt get a game v Wicklow, and I doubt Banty just told him he wasnt in his plans either.
But whatever it is, at least its happening behind closed doors for a change. Too much of what happens in the Meath camp was being scathered across papers and radio of late.

Larry
your right caoimhin has played most of his football at half back but hes the type of player that can play anywhere.the problem all our backs are half backs.harrington is the only natural corner back on the panal but banty doesnt want to pick him.id say he will play tobin in the corner the next day even though i think hes the best wing back we have

Agree with Jinxie at least Kingsy has kept his dignity by not going to the press, He has been very loyal to the Meath cause im sure he will be back when Banty is gone

Coamhin King is off the panel he is a loss but he has made his decison we will just have to get on with and bring someone on to the panel in his place like D.Dalton or S.Curran anyway it good that he walked off the panel quietly whatever may of happened because Meath football has had enough bad press for a while and lets just contrate and beating Carlow and giving Kildare a run for the money and hopefully beat them because i am sick of them beating us and being so cocky about it its team we put them back in there box.

Lads to be fair I doubt Banty is not picking players he doesnt like. He has enough guys arond him telling him who are good and bad footballers. It would appear to me that Mr King was not doing the business in training and was therfor not picked. we cant pick players on how they previously played we must pick them on current form and best people to do that is the guys watching them every night.

Caoimhin King like all the players deserve our gratitude for there freely given time and if he decides he had enough then that his choice.

An established member of the inter-county set-up since 2005, the Dunshauglin club man was keen to stress his reason for leaving had nothing to do with being dropped. "I had no problem sitting on the bench," said King yesterday. "My issue was with the way the management was operating things. There was more to it than not being selected."
King was not willing to go into specifics but the wing back retains ambitions of returning to the panel. "There has been no communication with any of the management since Thursday but, yes, hopefully I will get back some day. Playing for Meath is the be all and end all for me."

That last line says it all. We need men who bleed for the jersey.

Hopefully whatever the bother is can be resolved and we get him back on the panel.

reading between the lines its seem he is unhappy about a couple of lads who have been missing training lately because of exams and then get picked before him.banty has been saying he picks players on how they perform at training but this doesnt seem to be the case

Looks like King did go to the press...

Also seems he left BEFORE the Wicklow game.

King was right to go to the press but seems to be very dignified in what he said and didnt say , suppose he had to set the record straight which he did. he wasnt in Carlow for the game against Wicklow contrary to what various articles reported

I agree, he neither whinged, didn't personalise his disquiet, nor did he cause controversy. He just put it on the record that having to sit on the bench wasn't the problem, he just wasn't happy with how things are being done.

I think Ziggy he was perfectly entitled to do that and it clears up for me what I will admit I thought was childish exit. Might see him again in the future with appetite back if he keeps in reasonable shape, which I'm sure he will.

Caoimhin will be back, I have no doubt. Very strong, experienced and professional. And off course he's from Meath, unlike the current Manager. As we know, Meath don't do childish tantrums.

i agree wholehearedly with Rath togh (for a change!)! King didnt announce his disquiet and annoyance to the world (press) and didnt draw more negative attention to the county after months of negative press surrounding the team and management not to mention the Louth/Meath fiasco of 2 yrs ago. all the best to the lad in whatever he decides to do, he has been an asset to Meath football and will hopefully return.

it's a shame he left the team would have strengthened the squad but maybe he knew of the young lads coming through and did the right thing and let them have their chance.
