RoyalRoller - are you for real? Kenny has lost the legs? You're basing this on what exactly? A few minutes yesterday before going off injured?
I've read some nonsense on here before but that takes the biscuit....

"You can't buy a 99 over there without getting it in the ear about Banty"

Rath Toe, I hear you can't buy a drink in your clubhouse midweek now. Concentrate on Junior football, you wouldn't be used to having a player of Caoimhin's ability anyway.

CHRONYISM IS RIFE IN MEATH GAA, not even Boylan was listened to when he was manager. Anyway I heard from a friend of Kings that he had a big bust with management at training last thursday evening so that must be why hes decided not to play under Banty. Chronyism will destroy the world, im gonna miss Kings back passing and holding on to the ball---

Pity to hear about king. Ussualy played well. We could need him before the year is out.

It must be really frustrating for a more experienced player to have to sit on the bench without much hope of game time, given all the effort and sacrifices involved with being an IC player. OK, if you were a young up and coming player been around the set up and benefitting from training and so on would be worthwhile, with a medium to longer term view for a players development and future prospects. Obviously part of the problem lies with Banty's gameplan. He wants our backs to run/carry the ball forward out of defense, rather than make more direct kick passes. Shame because of all our backs, King is one of the few who can deliver a kick pass. And he isn't the only one who appears to be losing out. So strightly following orders appears to be ranked above footballing ability in some positions.

Kev Reilly's great timing with "Team playing for each other". If a manager does not pick you maybe ask yourself why. King is a good player who got mucked about at full forward for a while ( not by the bants). got games in league and has now walked away. If he is happy to leave then he did the right thing. If he is not happy he should have stayed and worked harder. Maybe the club final took alot out of him. Best of luck to him..... and probably bon voyage.

All joking aside
I've nothing against him, I've never spoken to the man. I think he's a good footballer. What I do find disappointing is that he was always the one who got the shadow of the doubt, always one of the first names on the teamsheet no matter how average (or good) his form has been. There have been times like any other player that I thought he was excellent and a few more I wished he was dropped. As someone already pointed out he even held his place down while studying in England. Now he's not prepared to stay and fight for his place back. He also began last year's championship on the bench and went on to nail a place down & play better than he had in years in the qualifiers.

Given that we are not privy to the details I cannot comment on why he's left, but I agree it weakens our panel of huge experience. Let people not forget though that Brian Farrell before Sunday hadn't started a championship game since 2009 for Meath. Thank God he didn't get the hump, but in fairness we've only heard from a poster that King has, there could be other reaons

Pity he's decided to leave. Always had a soft spot for him in the team as I thought he gave 100%, but going on the fellas who've joined the squad in the past cuple of years I can see how he's dropped down the pecking order.
If it purely down to not being picked that he's made his decision on then thats a real pity and I wish he's stayed and fought to get his place back. He was in and out of the team in the league last year but was still a starter when we were in the thick of the championship, so Banty obviously does rate him.
Best of luck to the lad in the future.

Maybe he will be playing hurling for a club in kildare before long.

Look I don't mean to be glib. He was a very good player and his experience could well be needed in the championship this year.
But good look and thanks for your service for last number of years.

Banty got out of jail a month past. Looks like he is learning from some of his previous mistakes and it would be another wise move to give the King household a shout and sort things out. We simply cannot afford to lose players like Caoimhin, a player in his prime and one who has never let the county down. He would be in my team but there is too much inter club rivalry hanging around this thread. Only my opinion again but the experienced King would be much more valuable to have involved for a game with Kildare or Dublin than two or three of the backs who lined out on Sunday.

Have to say I was surprised when Kenny got injured that King did not come on in his place. Heard afterwards he was told during training last week he would not be playing or coming on against Wicklow.

I have good time for Caoimhin King, in general I often thought he didn't get the praise and appreciation he deserved. Mind you I would be disappointed if he has left due to not starting last Sunday, he should stay and fight for his place, to walk after the first Championship match is unfair on everyone, himself included. Kevin Reilly undoubtedly knew of the situation when he was interviewed so perhaps he has little time for such independent actions. I hope we do see Caoimhin in a Meath jersey again though, perhaps some time away will give him time to reflect

Not surprised to see players leaving the panel but surprised that it was King- always considered him a grafter. Despite the dire performances I'm starting to like the way the team is shaping up. Won't be surprised if one or two more stalwarts call it a day too. Best of luck to caoimhin ...
