Is it true that Ballinabracky played illegal players and would that have anything to do with them giving walkovers?

Just heard that last weekend, something to do with players coming back from the states who hadn't cleared some 60 day transfer period. Not too sure of the details! Didn't hear anything since so must have been bull! Why are they giving walkovers then? Hardly trying to keep players wrapped in cotton wool for their 1/4 final are they?

All bull I reckon, if the county board knew about this, theyd be gone long ago out of championship, efficient lot that they are!
Championship is next weekend, so maybe they are wrapping up their players, whos to say they are wrong. If the Meath minors get wrapped up and county footballers are banned from playing club football, it makes sense as the game is deemed worthless to them.

The county board do know about it, but dont want to do anything about it because it will cause a back log with objections.
A club in offaly have been calling teams that have played ballinabrackey recently to let them know.

This rumour has been doing the rounds for a few weeks now. Its hardly true or some of the teams involved would have made a written objection about Ballinabrackey by now???

Like it or lump it, if the County Board received an objection they have to deal with it don't they?

There might be a timing issue with some games (it might be too late for the teams who played Ballinabrackey in the Championship back in April to object now because it was so long ago) and they got a walkover from Ballivor in game 4, but they beat St Ultans recently in their third Championship game so St Ultans would surely have appealed if the rumour was true.

A local Offaly club is annoyed they have lost players to Ballinabrackey over the years but it will have no effect on the bracks campaign from what ive heard. They have one former player who left for the states earlier in the year and he has not played as much as a B league match never mind championship

More and more teams are giving walkovers this weekend, might be no league games at all

Looks like the 1/4 final winners will only heve a week to prepare for semi. What are peoples views on this. Anybody any insights into how teams that remain are preparing. Challenge matches/ injuries etc?

Unlike some people on this i dont hide behind ghost names,Most people will know who i am as my username is my nickname. As regards Ballinabrackey playing illegal players here is what happened.Clonmore Harps who are a club in Offaly but in the parish of ballinabrackey/castlejordan made an objection about a player who came on in the carnaross game with 15 minutes remaining. This chap was born in England and moved back to ireland with his family around 11 years ago. When his family first came back they lived in carbury Co Kildare,They then moved to a house in Ballinbrackey where they lived in rented accomodation, the young lad in question started playing football with Ballinabrackey then and continued to do so until his family got planning permission to build a house on the Offaly side parish where they now live.He has continued playing football with his club since(which is now 8 years) but now since he turned 17 Clonmore think he is there player because he moved into the offaly side of the parish. So thats it folks for all of yee wondering whats going on....There is more Offaly blood in Barrack Obama than there is in this young lad.The chap is 100% legal, cased closed.

That'll do lutch, case closed. Having only a week to prepare could well benefit the quarter final winners. Its not ideal but sure we can blame the Meath minors for messing up the fixtures, ha

Ballinabrackey have a great panel this year. When we played them they'd 40 lads out for a league game, an hour before the game they were all out on the pitch doing a full training basically. Very fit team and very well coached, with some great footballers. Can see them doing very well.

Na Fianna and Trim went straight into the semis. Good question though, its not fair for the team that finishes top of Group C every year

ah sure lutch jealousy is an awful thing plough on yiz will be ok I think ballinabrackey are major contenders. Have to agree about the qualifying system think its wrong that 2 go straight to semis when the same number of teams are in each group, I think the same is due to happen in the senior when it goes up to 18

If that is true Lurch, it was a very petty rumour going around meath for the last month or so! Anyway, best of luck to Ballinabrackey, who in all due respect were an average junior team only a few years ago, they seem to have got their game face on now. They wont have it handy though against the Michaels who put it up to Na Fianna for the most of the last game. Also, beyond that, there are some very experienced sides in Trim( Senior last year), Castletown, (Division1 this year), Na Dianna, (Favourites) and Ballinlough, (Knocking on Door for for years).

Very true tackleberry, anyone of the 6 teams can win it now, very tight championship, which ever 2 teams win saturday night only have a week to prepare for the semi final which i think is very unfair.

Case closed alright. Should be a close game v St michaels but Balinabrackey should have enough. Probably the team to beat going by results, agree with previous post. Junior to senior in a couple of years would be an achievement
