Na Fianna,Ballinlough and Ballinabrackey are favourites surely!
I've seen a lot of intermediate teams so far and Ballinabrackey and ballinlough are the best by far.Trim not far off third best but they haven't been tested yet as Kells are average and st Colmcilles are poor this year!
Dunderry, syddan, kells, clann Na gael,Castletown, carnaross all over rated again this year.st micheals have played poor opposition so cannot judge them just yet and Balivors long year will catch up with them through injuries(Derek doran injured shoulder again last week)
Ballinlough,Na Fianna,Trim,Ballinabrackey and maybe Longwood/st micheals will contest the business end of the championship

I don't post much at all on club matters within meath because I live outside county these days so would not be able to get to many matches except county finals. But I just find it fascinating how a club the size of ballinabrackey are doing so well and by most comments I read would be one of the favorites to win intermediate championship. Now ok 2 years ago after winning junior the went on a tremendous run and I watched them a couple of times and was very impressed with a few of there players chris oconnor obviously but also there star player imo damian carroll. Has ballinabrackey grown in population? Or is it down to good management? A rhode man if I am correct? I just think for such a small area surrounded by westmeath on one side offaly on other and also close to kildare. It is a great achievement to all involved

Hi I am not normally one to comment on this board or any other boards. Hard experience has thought me that no matter what you say or what ever way you put your message across it can be misinterpreted.
However as the PRO officer of St Colmcilles Gaa Club Piltown.I must respond to the items that where raised over the last week or so. First of all may I point out that our club is a place of welcome for any person, no matter their religion, their skin colour their place of birth, or their personal beliefs. We do not or have not at any time played the card that if your not local your not welcome. The executive of our clubs both ladies and gents is made up of many people who with the management structures and coaching staff and volunteers make up a community of solid Gaa people. I am appalled that somebody can hide behind a secret name and pass comment on our internal structures. I have no doubt that this person has never crossed the bridge and entered into our grounds at Piltown. We have in place a group of people who on the darkest of nights and the bright mornings are out serving our club in their efforts to train young children and adults. The first line of the GAA Official Guide spells out how the GAA reaches into every corner of Ireland and many communities around the globe. In doing this, the GAA is fully committed to the principles of inclusion and diversity at all levels. This is what the GAA believes in and expects its members to adhere to. Opting out of these responsibilities is not an option. Can I point out that the community of St Colmcilles Gaa club can hold their head proud that they are living this policy out week in and week out.
Can I invite any one whom writes on this website to feel free to contact me or any club officer where we will be happy to introduce them to our club structures. Finally I am more than happy to say that St Colmcilles are not just preparing good footballers or hurlers but are assisting in the development of our young leaders of tomorrow both with in our club and with in the out reach programmes that we are involved with across the East Meath Community.

As a recent visitor to Pilltown for a game I can only compliment the St Colmcilles club on their facilities and on the warm welcome they afforded us. The place was full of people of all shapes, sizes and ages enjoying football and hurling and there was a real buzz about the place. Best of luck to Colmcilles, ignore the minority begrudgers.

Thanks for that baker. Didn't know they had a new manager well good luck to him anf them in rest of championship.

Pat. I have not been to piltown but from what I've heard its a fine place. Best wishes to you and your club. I am also involved in a club in a county outside of meath. And I can only imagine what it would be like to have negative stuff written on a forum such as this . Fair play for coming on and having the courage to name yourself and rightly defend your club. Well done and again best wishes to you and colmcille.

Castletown V St Ultan's - Tough one to call but Castletown to shade it
Ballinlough v Gaeil Colmcille - Kells to get their first win this campaign
Syddan v Clann na nGael - Athboy to win
Na Fianna v Dunderry - This is another tight one, could well be a draw
Longwood V St Colmcille's - Longwood shocked Kells last time out but Cilles will bring them back down to earth
Ballinabrackey V Carnaross - The Bracks will condemn Carnaross to a 3rd defeat

Castletown V St Ultan's - Castletown by 2, not much between them though.
Ballinlough v Gaeil Colmcille - Kells by 2, kells to go all the way to the final
Syddan v Clann na nGael - Gaels by 8, syddan are out of the running already.
Na Fianna v Dunderry -Dunderry by 4. Dunderry's experience & youth will be too much like in last years q/final.
Longwood V St Colmcille's - Longwood by 5, the wood should be at full strength now.
Ballinabrackey V Carnaross - The Bracks by 6, these boys will take a lot of beating this year.

Well only 2 of my predictions came good anyway with Castletown and The Bracks winning. Kells sent packing by Ballinlough was probably the shock of the round, fully expected Kells to bounce back in that game. Longwood really seem to be motoring after beating Colmcilles, Syddan with another mini surprise beating Athboy. This championship is unfolding nicely

Does anybody know what way the qualifiers from the group work in this grade? Is it top 3 from 2 groups and top 2 from another? Or do the top teams from 2 groups get straight into the semis leaving 4 teams to play in 2 quarter finals?

Good question 'InTheLoop', was wondering that myself, hopefully someone can answer it for us. I think you're along the right lines though, think its the 2 best group winners straight into the semi's

Top 2 teams in group A (Longwood group) and B (Na Fianna group) go straight to semi finals as per the rule book
2nd place teams in the 3 groups plus winner of group C play off in 1/4 finals
