He's being cagey about a possible 2nd tilt at it.
Personally I'd love to see the dream team of Eamonn and Martin Barry as co-managers, with Dessie Rogers as physio....

Eamonn Barry... would he really be a good choice? I know that there are a few players on the panel who aren't exactly enamoured with him, also when you look at the personnel available to any prospective manager you would imagine that forwards like the Sheridans, Queeney, O'Rourke etc. would make the long ball tactic the preferred option. That's not going to be the case if Barry is manager. You have to wonder if Barry's preferred style would even be suited to this current Meath team?

Does anybody really want to see a Meath team playing the posession game like Counihan's Cork? I think it would be a waste and I don't believe we currently have the backs available to implement it.

I wonder does Sean Kelly maybe regret declaring that he was committed to educational pursuits for the next year now that O'Brien hasn't been ratified? Ah, well, as long as Colm Brady is involved in some capacity I think we'll do all right.

Ollie99-Meath will play the will play the game they have always played and the way its meant to be played-quick moving ball into the forwards. Who ever comes in I hope brings in at least 5 new players.

tony kearney had success with great players in senior team with wolfe tones agreed, dont forget all other ranks ( junior b,c and d) won under his stewardship also!!being a mayo man would certainly rule him out though i think, they still looking for manager to!

Liam Harnan - when you see the way he was working with the underage development it was the way to go. He wanted 90 players not just getting development squads to 30. He said that your weak player could be your best and develop them all. The way they do in the North and in Kerry.

He is strong minded and I have seen him with young people he earns their respect.

martins a better manager than eamonn but theres more chance of brian cowen being taoiseach after the next election than there is of martin and dessie being near any meath set up ever again

782653 Nominations about to close and I havent heard one credible candidate say they actually want the job. Is it the lack of players making it so unattractive or the prospect of working with our county board? Or more likely a bit of both.

783084 QPR - have you heard who the nominees will be? I don't think that the playing pool is the issue - we've as good a set as most teams. I think it's common enough knowledge that working with this particular board would put alot of people off.

783234 If ya pay peanuts....whoever gets the job in the end is unlikely to receive the sort of financial support required to run a "professional" set up which is required to lift Meath into the top tier of teams. Thats the facts of it

So Sean Kelly is reported to have put his name forward. We can assume then that his 'concentrating on studies' line was nonsense & that he was unhappy with EOB's methods. It's ridiculous that they have to wait for the meeting on Monday week to announce who the nominees are.

I think McEntee, Harnan & paddy Carr are all better options.

Seamus McEnaney would be my favourite to get the job. I just think there is no one from within the county who would do any better than their predecessor. I read an interview with Pete McGrath a few weeks ago and he mentioned that he was approached by the selection committee from Meath to see would he be interested two years ago so maybe the county board are not as anti-outsider as we think. If I had to choose a Meath native candidate it would be Liam Harnan.

Meath Manager Update

I hear Dudley Farrell guided Kingscourt to win the Cavan Senior football championship yesterday, and seemingly at the start of the year they were 25/1 to win it outright.

Thats a nice CV Dudley is developing.
He must have won every county championship now as a manager.
He also has the relevent county experience also, guiding Meath minors to win the leinster and also was a selector with Meath seniors for 2 years.
Maybe he is ready to take over our seniors as he has worked with a good few of them at underage level. Any opinions?
