What about Mick o Dowd from Skryne. Did a great job with them as player/manager a few years back.

updaroyal - you must be kidding -some of those names you mentioned managing minor teams are not up to the standard of managing adults at county senior level and would not last a week. For the interest of some posters who have a poor memory G.Mc has successfully managed an adult team into an All -Ireland semifinal.

Paddy Carr & Trevor Giles.

If they are going outside the county, then
Pete McGrath. Possibly with Giles again as he will need someone with a knowledge of club football in the county.

need an outsider, ie Banty with 2 former meath players (ie Giles and Fay) and a decent fitness coach. or mayb Big Joe or Pete McGrath.
With the new navan by pass transport not a problem!!

To be honest I think Eamonn Barry was giving a raw deal and deserves another chance. 1 or 2 off the panel I know having nothin but praise for him. Did he not win a Leinster club with Dunshauglin and 3 Meath SFC's in a row? He's more proven then some of the names mentioned on this thread.

The Banty or Joe Kernan would be my choice. Paddy Carr, Damien Sheridan, etc come on get real boyos.

And how are the banty or big joe going to find new talent in the county by the time their appointed clubs will be finished up so you.ll be left with the same panel as last year

Banty is a very proud Monaghan man, couldn't see him having the same passion or interest in the Meath job

767602 people stop calling for Gerry McEntee and Darren Fay. Great players but remember Gerry isnt a proven manager, ie thats what we need. Darren has only 2 years experience in management, one with Nobber and the other with Trim. Not much achieved there. My dream team would be a Sean Kelly/Dudley Farrell/ Sean Barry combination. These were sucessful when manager of our minors, and anyone that played under both Sean and Dudley have nothing only praise for them.

Yeah, my feelings too for the most part, although I can't see Damian Sheridan acting as selector under anyone when he has such a young and promising club outfit. Sean Kelly and Sean Barry have had a very succesful partnership in the past, maybe that chemistry could be brought to the senior set-up? Outside the county the only men I'd like to see involved would be Kernan or Paul Grimely but I don't see either of these men as being a likely choice. Kernan would be a gamble anyway and he may be brooding over his falling out with Galway for a year or two, I'd be surprised if he goes straight back into inter-county management. Also he very much likes to have his own men compromise the management team, would our county board entertain the notion of a Meath management team entirely composed of Armagh men? I doubt it.

Hope the county board show some ambition with the final appointment, we should be looking to win div 2 and push on from there. Exciting times ahead.

I just

i would love to see banty as manager with colm brady or grimley as trainer and giles and fay as selectors, but we all know this wont happen as our county board wouldnt give the job to an outside manager, wouldnt be suprised if Dudley of Damien Sheridan gets it..

Question; Does anyone believe that regardless who gets the gig, we are good enough to win an all Ireland ?, and no 2; do you think we will retain leinster ? I my opinion it was not eamon o Brien that the delegates were getting at but the top table of the county board as there have been a lot of rumblings of discontent lately with delegates fed up of being bullied and told not to ask questions etc

See this is the problem do Meath go outside the county.. If so i think give Mick O'Dwyer a chance or Joe Kernan (I know didnt do well at Galway) but Meath have the right players who just need the managerial treatment and I think he can do the job;

And if its local well then I go for Tony Kearney, he brought Wolfe Tones from Junior to winning a Senior championship he's an excellent manager...

Tony Kearney maybe born a Mayo Man but the man has lived in Meath for the past 20-25 years.... Thats a long time and he has giving a lot of his time to help Meath football from Juvenile level right up to Senior Level

Sean Kelly should get it
Dudley farrell could be a selector again but not as main manager
Gerry McEntee would be the golden ticket along with a former player like giles or gerathy
Fay will probly be a contender in the future
What about Kit henry doing good work here in louth
Damien Sheridan wouldn't leave the senchalstown job would he?

Snowchance10, Yes Tony Kearney was manager when Wolfe Tones made the step from Junior A to Senior champions and a great achievement it was, but in my opinion that achievement was by his players!! Think about it, he was manager with the Tones for years before they won the Junior, and after they won it they went on to win Senior in 3 yrs, now the broader picture shows that the players all of a sudden came along, players with outstanding ability, all of these players are near enough same age bracket,,Corrigan,Ward,Harro,Rithchie Brady,McGinn (came from Simonstown), Colemans,Nialler McLoughlin,McGrath and then of course the odd blow in, Tommy Dowd, Pat Fitzpatrick, Gordon Beggy,O'Neill to name a few!!

Eamon Barry should get a proper go at it. He did great work when in charge, he brought new players in and it was his hard work that made Coyle look good when he took over. Eamon Barry is a excellent manager. Controversial but still best man for the job.

Interesting viewpoint from a surprising source here...... especially after the 'out of touch' guff of late from the Indo's Breheny.

As the dust settles on Mondays decision by club delegates, hope the executive appreciate there is no time to waste and will move forward calmly.
The nominations process needs to be acted on and the next management in place well before the December-January closed season.
There is much to be done and to be organised at adult and especially at underage level but its not impossible and its certainly not the the end of the world. And Meath football will prevail.
As some glance towards Newry and see that Down's progress to the All-Ireland final includes much good organisation and best use of resources this year when the big guns of Tyrone and Kerry are out of the way.
