Can't see Laois beating Carlow in Dr. Cullen. In Croke Park, yes - but not in Dr. Cullen Park. Mind you, I thought they'd beat Kildare today, and - earlier - that Kildare would be in relegation trouble. How the hell did they lose to Kerry?! Nass are a very good club side and regularly beat and trouble teams from the more 'established' counties. With over half the starting team from Naas, they're obviously driving it on. Surprised it hasn't happened sooner.

What do you want it to do for them? Kildare are good, and there's every chance they'd beat Offaly, even Wexford on an off-day. They're big, strong, and very fit. The game against Dublin will tell a lot. I don't expect they'll win, but I don't expect them to be hammered, either. As for Laois? Sadly we're stuck at a level and have stood still as a hurling county while all around us have passed us out - Carlow, Kildare, Offaly, Westmeath, Dublin. It takes massive resources, top-class coaching, properly-channelled ambition, good leadership, and belief to harness a hurling tradition. We have very little of those ingredients and I think we're going nowhere for the next few years. We used to be a decent dual county, but now we're pretty irrelevant at both codes.

Replying To Bon: "Its only a runout for the third placed teams, nothing else." Surprised at your pessimism, Bon. Kildare should give Dublin a decent test.
Actually, I would continue to allow the winner of McDonagh the play-off - but have it against the third placed Leinster team every year.
