possibly cause that was the biggest gap there was without a game on the pitch?

Sean.
For us exiles the Pitch and the grounds looked great and was a credit to you and all concerned. It was just the anomoly of the ball not bouncing up for lads like Martin Dunne and Aaron Kernan but to be fair, you have explained it. Lets hope for lots of long sunny days and the CAVAN boys training in there well into August and September.

Yes thank you Sean. I was just being flippant in my comments. mostly because I'm bored and hate my own job.

Had a mad thought there earlier: if you spread a bit of cement in with the sand, say 1:50, would it increase the bounce of the ball?

haha, just being flippant again. lolly

Looking at Kingspan Park I am of the opinion that CCB will have take in hand the condition of the Park.
We now have a Hurling team that deserves a good surface, the Ladies also need a playable surface so longer is it just the senior team.
I say that that out principal park is not up to standard and our County team deserves better playing facilities .

Great to see Breifne Park at full capacity. Them goalposts could do with a lick of paint Sean O'Rinn.

Not my area there is a full time maintenance man in Breffni so contact him if you don't mind. We were aware that the posts need to be painted and they are going to done in preparation for the Aussie game. It was not full either to capacity there was 22000 at the match. BBC RTE Northern Sound all made good comments about the park and everyone of them were positive.

Tom Smith you have not got a clue about what goes on in Breffni park the old saying
You can fool some of the people all of the time
Some of the people some of the time
But not all of the people all of the time.

How many more can it fit Sean? Looked wedged on the TV anyway. Good to see the ground get a bit of publicity, its an absolute credit to the groundsmen, the county board and us Cavan folk. I always thought Breifne Park was a fine example to other small counties. Any word of the pitch being re-laid?

Sean you have certainly answered your critics but to be honest one of those gentlemen is best ignored as he just spouts out some daft comments. If it is not the "poor standard in West Cavan", discovering "David Givey" , Donal Keogans dismissal, or now the poor state of the Breffni pitch it will be something else in a few weeks. From what I saw today it looked resplendant and was a credit to everybody concerned. And by the way the ball seemed to be bouncing o.k.
So lads just get back to the real issues like next Saturdays game, will there be changes, injuries, midfield, can we beat Monaghan etc ?

In reply to your question to the pitch being re-laid
Walking and working on it this week and the amount of sand put on it just over 8 weeks ago and new seedlings would you say it needed to be relaid I could only pick two very small areas that have not come up to my standards but another couple off weeks they will be fine also.
The pitch is in fantastic form and yes the grounds are a credit to all Cavan fold you should be very proud of yourself's
to have such a fantastic stadium and to see it just 7500 short of capacity.
If you folk that saw it yesterday felt as I did well I fully understand your delight for I was elated with how it looked.

The resurface question ? Over 120000 to have it resurfaced a lot of money and a waste right now for its in great form. If you look after it and don't abuse it and use it for what its for the surface will do for several years more.

For insurance and health and safety purposes the park has been set a figure just under 29000

Gaelsutd, I know it wasn't full to Capacity. Another poster asked how many more did it hold.

Newstalk announced over 22k there yesterday but I was there and there wasn't much room to spare. We were late in due to traffic from Belturbet on and were blocked from getting in behind the town goals as was full. So if the capacity is 29k I'd say there was over 25k there.

nothing wrong with the pitch. the problem was with the traffic control. Cavan is just not suitable.
